The third golf major of the year will be contested starting Thursday when Los Angeles Country Club hosts the 2023 U.S. Open. With plenty on the line in PGA DFS tournaments, cash games and 50-50s on sites like DraftKings and FanDuel, daily Fantasy golf players are hunting for an edge. Almost everyone in the 2023 U.S. Open field will be on level footing when it comes to course knowledge since the ultra-private LACC hasn't hosted a PGA Tour event since 1940 and is among the most exclusive private clubs in the country. Still, Scottie Scheffler has been a safe bet in the PGA DFS player pool over the last six months, finishing 12th or better in his last 16 starts.

Meanwhile, Southern California native Xander Schauffele could be another popular option for 2023 U.S. Open DFS picks considering he has five top-seven finishes and hasn't finished worse than 14th in six career U.S. Open starts. Before you lock in your PGA DFS picks for the 2023 U.S. Open, you'll want to see the latest daily Fantasy golf picks, advice and player pool from SportsLine's Mike McClure.

McClure is a DFS pro with over $2 million in career winnings, and he's been red-hot on his PGA Tour picks this season. McClure is also a predictive data engineer at SportsLine who uses a powerful prediction model that simulates every tournament 10,000 times, taking factors like statistical trends, past results and current form into account. This allows him to find the best PGA DFS values and create optimal lineups that he shares only over at SportsLine. They're a must-see for any PGA DFS player.

Last week at the RBC Canadian Open, McClure listed Tyrrell Hatton among his top PGA DFS picks. The result: Hatton put together a phenomenal final round of 8-under-par to put himself in contention, ultimately finishing in third place at 16-under for the tournament. Anybody that included him in their lineups was well on the way to a profitable day.

In addition, McClure's model is up over $10,200 on its best bets since June 2020, nailing tournament after tournament. This same model has also nailed a whopping nine majors entering the weekend. Anyone who has followed it has seen massive returns.

Now, McClure has set his sights on the 2023 U.S. Open and revealed his optimal PGA DFS advice, strategy and player pool. Head to SportsLine now to see his top golf DFS picks for the U.S. Open 2023.

Top 2023 U.S. Open PGA DFS picks

One of McClure's top PGA DFS picks for the 2023 U.S. Open: Tony Finau at $8,800 on DraftKings and $10,300 on FanDuel. Finau has been a strong performer so far this season, bringing consistency and a high ceiling to the table. He won the Houston Open in November and the Mexico Open at Vidanta in April as part of his 11 top-25s.

Finau has not been impressive at major championships of late, but he still has six top-10s at those events during his career. He finished eighth in the 2020 U.S. Open and posted a pair of top-10s at majors the following season. Finau is in some of the best form of his career, making this the perfect time to include him in PGA DFS lineups.

McClure's optimal PGA DFS strategy also includes rostering Justin Thomas ($8,700 on DraftKings, $10,800 on FanDuel). The 15-time PGA Tour winner and two-time major champion hasn't had his best season, slipping to No. 16 in the Official World Golf Ranking after missing the cut at the Memorial Tournament.

However, Thomas has recorded a pair of top-10 finishes at the U.S. Open and made the cut in six of his eight career starts in the national championship. Despite his struggles this year, he still ranks 23rd on the PGA Tour in total strokes gained (0.932) and the former world No. 1 shouldn't be taken lightly in PGA DFS lineups. See who else to back right here
