Holliman knows Morikawa is having a down year, but the expert is backing the 26-year-old this week at Colonial. The California native has struggled with his putter throughout his career, but he showed in 2020 that he can sink putts at Colonial. Morikawa was the runner-up at that year's Charles Schwab Challenge, and his precision in every part of his game makes him a good fit for the course. He leads the tour in strokes gained approach, ranks seventh in greens in regulation and sixth in driving accuracy. Morikawa also ranks 18th in scoring average (70.002) this season.
On the other hand, Holliman doesn't think Burns has the well-rounded game to succeed again at Colonial and is strongly fading him. The defending champ saw everything go right for him last year, as most of the field battled fierce winds late in the day.
