It didn't take long for Ronda Rousey to retain her bantamweight title against Cat Zingano at UFC 184.
In fact, the fight took just 14 seconds. Zingano came out aggressively, coming at Rousey with a flying knee. Rousey was able to block the move, and quickly took Zingano to the ground. Seconds later, Rousey had Zingano in her signature armbar. Zingano submitted in just 14 seconds, setting a record for the quickest title fight in UFC history.
With the win, Rousey improves to 11-0 in her UFC career. Following the fight, Rousey seemed to imply that she knew Zingano's strategy going in. "We were expecting that she might come out and do something flying at me right away," Rousey said.
Zingano seemed frustrated following the loss, but was sure to give Rousey proper credit for the victory. "She did it," Zingano said of Rousey. "She did good. That was a good armbar. She did it." Zingano constantly repeated, "I want to do it again" in her post-fight interview.
During her interview, Rousey took the opportunity to focus on her next match. "Holly Holm is a world champion boxer and I always want to test myself against that level of striking," Rousey said. "And Bethe Correia, she's undefeated. I'd like to take that '0' away from her."
