Elson was placed on waivers by the Rangers on Thursday, Vince Z. Mercogliano of USA Today reports.
Elson logged just two games for the Red Wings last season and is unlikely to make a significant impact in the NHL this year either. Without a clear path to minutes, Elson will be a relative non-factor in fantasy contests moving forward and will report to AHL Hartford once he clears waivers.
