  • Commanders' Jahan Dotson: Concludes disappointing 2023

Dotson finished 2023 with 49 catches for 518 yards and four touchdowns on 83 targets. Dotson had more yards (523) and touchdowns (seven) as a rookie in 2022 despite missing five full games and having his snaps limited in two others. He didn't miss any games in his sophomore campaign, but nearly everything else was a disappointment, including his target volume (4.9 per game) and efficiency stats (59.0 percent catch rate, 10.6 yards per catch, 6.2 yards per targe). His catch rate barely rose compared to 2022 -- even though his aDOT sunk from 13.5 to 9.3 -- and his yards after catch (YAC) average dropped from 3.9 to 2.4 (usually it rises when a player sees more short passes and fewer long ones). The main positives here are that Dotson never got benched, playing 82.2 percent of Washington's snaps on offense, and may now head into his third NFL season with a new head coach and new starting quarterback. The 2022 first-round pick nonetheless figures to come off the board much later in 2024 fantasy drafts than he did this past summer, with the down season in Year 2 casting serious doubt upon his future.

  • Commanders' Jahan Dotson: Held catchless against 49ers

Dotson failed to reel in his lone target in Sunday's 27-10 loss to the 49ers. Dotson was held without a catch Sunday for the third time this season, despite playing the second most offensive snaps (39) at wideout behind Terry McLaurin (41). With a streak of underwhelming performances down the stretch this season, the veteran receiver remains an untrustworthy option for fantasy lineups heading into a Week 18 matchup with the Cowboys.

  • Commanders' Jahan Dotson: Two grabs in Week 16

Dotson caught two of four targets for 31 yards in Sunday's 30-28 loss to the Jets. Dotson continued his streak of underwhelming performances, as the wideout has been held out of the end zone for four straight contests and has totaled just 10 catches on 16 targets in that span. The prospect of a potential quarterback change from Sam Howell to Jacoby Brissett could provide a spark to the Washington offense, but the 23-year-old wideout will still be difficult to trust as a lineup option Week 17 against the 49ers.

  • Commanders' Jahan Dotson: Catches only target

Dotson caught his lone target for 12 yards in Sunday's 28-20 loss at the Rams. Washington's fourth-quarter QB switch from Sam Howell to Jacoby Brissett did wonders for Terry McLaurin, who caught three passes for 93 yards and a touchdown in the final frame. Curtis Samuel also had a big day with a pair of scores among his nine targets, while Dotson didn't see a single target until midway through the fourth quarter and now ranks third on the team in targets this season (75, 5.4 per game). A late turnaround isn't entirely out of the question, but Dotson doesn't seem especially likely to breakthrough in Week 16 against an excellent Jets secondary.

  • Commanders' Jahan Dotson: Two catches in Week 13 loss

Dotson brought in two of five targets for 23 yards in the Commanders' 45-15 loss to the Dolphins on Sunday. Expectations were high for another pass-heavy game for the Commanders as they attempted to keep up with the Dolphins, but for a variety of reasons, that didn't quite materialize. Sam Howell ultimately attempted just 23 passes, and Dotson tied for the team lead in targets with Curtis Samuel and Antonio Gibson. However, he did little with the opportunities, finishing with his seventh sub-30-yard tally of the season. Dotson should have a chance for more opportunities in a Week 15 road matchup against the Rams following a Week 14 bye.

  • Commanders' Jahan Dotson: Five grabs in Dallas

Dotson caught all five of his targets for 52 yards in Thursday's 45-10 loss to the Cowboys. While Curtis Samuel (12) and Terry McLaurin (11) saw higher target volumes, Dotson was efficient with his looks as he topped 50 receiving yards for only the third time this season. The second-year wideout has been coming on after an awful start to the year, in large part because Sam Howell is consistently attempting more than 40 passes a game, and over the last five weeks Dotson has a 20-252-3 line on 29 targets, although even that productive stretch includes one game in which he didn't catch a pass at all. Dotson may need to come up big in Week 13 if the Commanders are to have a hope of keeping up with the Dolphins.

  • Commanders' Jahan Dotson: Finds end zone in loss

Dotson recorded three catches on four targets for 23 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 31-19 loss to the Giants. Dotson improved from his Week 10 performance, during which he failed to record a catch, though his involvement in the offense Sunday was still concerning. He saw fewer than five targets for the fourth time this season and has been held under 30 receiving yards on six occasions. Dotson's fantasy day was saved by an eight-yard touchdown catch with just over two minutes remaining in the game, but it's difficult to project him for consistent production with limited volume.

  • Commanders' Jahan Dotson: Finishes with goose egg

Dotson was held without a catch on two targets in a 29-26 loss to the Seahawks on Sunday. Dotson broke out of a pronged slump with 10 catches for 177 yards and two TDs on 18 targets over the previous two weeks, but it's hard to find a silver lining for his goose egg Sunday in a game that saw QB Sam Howell throw for over 300 yards. The second-year wideout handled his usual role in terms of snap share (87 percent) and simply couldn't get anything done against one of the better CB groups in the league. Dotson gets a much better matchup in Week 11, facing the Giants at home, but it's tough to trust him in fantasy lineups given his overall averages of 3.4 catches for 36.0 yards and 0.3 TDs on 5.9 targets per game. He's fallen shy of double-digit PPR points in each of the seven games in which he didn't score a touchdown, and his catch rate (57.6 percent) is nearly identical to last season's despite his aDOT dropping from 13.5 to 9.5 and his yards per reception sliding from 14.9 to 10.6.

  • Commanders' Jahan Dotson: Sleeper WRs

It took some time, but Dotson is now producing like the player we hoped for coming into the season. He has 26 targets in his past three games against the Giants, Eagles and Patriots, and he scored at least 16.9 PPR points in each of his past two outings, with two touchdowns in those contests. He's approaching must-start status in all leagues, and hopefully he stays hot against the Seahawks in Week 10. It helps that Seattle has allowed 11 receivers to score at least 13.7 PPR points this year, and this should be a solid week for Dotson and Terry McLaurin against this defense.

  • Commanders' Jahan Dotson: Gets removed from injury report

Dotson (personal) wasn't listed on the Commanders' injury report Thursday. Dotson missed Wednesday's practice due to a personal matter, but he was back one day later without any limitations. He's thus set to take on a Seahawks defense Sunday that has allowed the eighth-most receptions (118) to opposing wide receivers in eight games this season.

  • Commanders' Jahan Dotson: Sleepers (Start/Sit)

It took some time, but Dotson is now producing like the player we hoped for coming into the season. He's approaching must-start status in all leagues, and hopefully he stays hot against the Seahawks in Week 10. It helps that Seattle has allowed 11 receivers to score at least 13.7 PPR points this year, and this should be a solid week for Dotson and Terry McLaurin against this defense.

  • Commanders' Jahan Dotson: Absent for personal reasons

Dotson missed practice Wednesday for personal reasons but is expected to return Thursday, Ben Standig of The Athletic reports. Dotson's two best fantasy games of the season came in the past two weeks, both featuring touchdowns and his top two yardage totals (108 and 69). Assuming he rejoins the team Thursday, Dotson should be ready to fill his usual starting role Sunday at Seattle.

  • Commanders' Jahan Dotson: Two-game TD streak after slow start

Dotson caught four of eight targets for 69 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 20-17 win over the Patriots. Dotson tied the score at 17-17 with a 33-yard touchdown catch in the third quarter. He led the Commanders in targets while finishing one catch and four receiving yards shy of Terry McLaurin's team-leading totals. After posting just 183 yards and one touchdown through seven games, Dotson has 177 yards and two touchdowns in his last two. He'll look to stay hot in Week 10 against the Seahawks.

  • Commanders' Jahan Dotson: Sleeper WRs

Let's hope Dotson's performance in Week 8 against Philadelphia wasn't a fluke when he caught eight passes for 108 yards and a touchdown on 10 targets. He now has 18 targets in his past two games, and Curtis Samuel (toe) is banged up. Terry McLaurin remains the No. 1 receiver for the Commanders and is a must-start Fantasy option, but Dotson is worth trusting again in three-receiver leagues. The Patriots also just allowed three Dolphins receivers (Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle and Cedrick Wilson) to score touchdowns in Week 8, so McLaurin and Dotson should have the chance to make plays in this matchup.

  • Commanders' Jahan Dotson: Week 9 Waiver Priority List

I've had Dotson as a drop candidate for the past couple of weeks, and he proved me wrong in Week 8 against Philadelphia with eight catches for 108 yards and a touchdown on 10 targets. He now has 18 targets in the past two games against the Giants and Eagles, and I hope his performance in Week 8 is a sign of things to come. It's worth buying back into Dotson given his talent, and he should be added in all leagues for up to 10 percent of your FAB.

  • Commanders' Jahan Dotson: Week 9 Early Waiver Targets (Add/Drop)

It's incredibly hard to know what to make of Dotson's best game of the season, especially since it's also … his first good game of the season – he hadn't topped 11 PPR points in any game before Sunday. We know Dotson has talent, as a 2022 first-round pick, but he just hasn't shown that talent often enough this season, and it's not like much changed for Dotson this week besides the results; he played 85% of the snaps Sunday, compared to 84% in Week 7. Of course, the production was incredible, and it's hard to ignore that from a talented player. I don't think Dotson is going to be worth trusting in Week 9 against the Patriots, but he probably should be rostered now, at least. It's worth noting the Eagles have had a lot of injuries in the secondary, and Terry McLaurin still had more targets Sunday.

  • Commanders' Jahan Dotson: Best showing of season Sunday

Dotson brought in eight of 10 targets for 108 yards and one touchdown in the Commanders' 38-31 loss to the Eagles on Sunday. Dotson led the Commanders in receptions and receiving yards on the afternoon with totals that also qualified as season highs. Dotson also recorded his second touchdown grab of the season for good measure, finding the end zone from 21 yards out early in the second quarter. The speedy second-year man carries an impressive 13-151-1 line over his last two games into a Week 9 road matchup against an inconsistent Patriots secondary that gave up a pair of 100-yard performances to the Dolphins' Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle on Sunday.

  • Commanders' Jahan Dotson: Another quiet outing

Dotson caught five of eight targets for 43 yards in a 14-7 loss to the Giants on Sunday. It was better than his one-target, zero-catch outing the week before and technically represents a season-high for yardage, but Dotson still hasn't reached 50 yards in a game this season or done much of anything to help fantasy managers. He ran a team-high 42 routes, suggesting his starting job is still safe, but the big plays from last year (14.9 YPR, seven TDs in 12 games) have completely dried up. Dotson gets a home game against the Eagles in Week 8, facing veteran cornerbacks Darius Slay and James Bradberry.

  • Commanders' Jahan Dotson: Held to 30 yards

Dotson caught three of five targets for 30 yards in Thursday's 40-20 loss to Chicago. Dotson took a step forward the previous week with his first TD and a season-high nine targets, though he caught only four of the passes for 27 yards and has now put another weak receiving line in the books. While technically just one target behind Terry McLaurin (31) for the team lead this year, Dotson has been one of the less efficient starting wideouts in the league (56.7 percent catch rate, 8.2 yards per catch) and is one of four Commanders in the range of 14-to-18 percent target share. He gets a road game in Atlanta for Week 6 and should probably only be started in deep leagues at this point, with a second-year breakout looking increasingly unlikely.

  • Commanders' Jahan Dotson: Expected to play Thursday

Dotson (ankle) doesn't have an injury designation for Thursday's game against the Bears. Dotson is good to go for a favorable matchup against a Chicago defense that has allowed 34.3 points per game through the first four weeks of the season. The 2022 first-round draft pick finally scored his first touchdown of the season in last week's loss to the Eagles after finding the end zone seven times in 12 games as a rookie. Dotson has drawn a healthy 25 targets through four games but has yet to exceed 40 yards in any week.
