  • Vyncint Smith: Unable to make 53-man roster

Smith was cut by the Colts on Tuesday, Joel A. Erickson of The Indianapolis Star reports. Smith finished the 2022 campaign on Indianapolis' practice squad and re-signed with the team in January. However, the veteran wideout was unable to secure a spot on the team's final roster to start the season. Erickson notes that the Limestone College product will likely end up on the Colts' practice squad unless he opts to sign elsewhere.

  • Colts' Vyncint Smith: In line to remain with Indy

The Colts signed Smith to a reserve/future contract Monday, per the team's official site. After suiting up for both of Tampa Bay's and Denver's practice squads earlier this season, Smith joined the Colts' practice unit in mid-October but ultimately failed to receive a game-day promotion. The 6-foot-3 wide receiver is now in a position to compete for one of the Colts' roster spots throughout the offseason and into next year's training camp.

  • Vyncint Smith: Lands with Indy

The Colts signed Smith to the practice squad Monday. Smith was let go from the Broncos' practice squad Tuesday after joining with the team in early September. The 26-year-old wideout has yet to play this season, and he has not caught a pass since the 2020 campaign. Smith will serve as a potential game-day elevation with wideouts Ashton Dulin (foot) and Keke Coutee (concussion) both likely to miss time due to injury.

The Broncos cut Smith from their practice squad Tuesday, Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site reports. Smith spent training camp in Tampa Bay but ultimately didn't make it through final roster cuts. Rather than landing on the team's practice squad, he subsequently found his way to Denver. However, things did not work out and he is now set to look for a new landing spot.

The 26-year-old spent the last three seasons with the Jets, appearing in a total of 22 contests. The Buccaneers signed Smith to a reserve/future contract Wednesday, Greg Auman of The Athletic reports. The 25-year-old was brought in for a workout ahead of the Buccaneers' divisional-round loss to the Rams and appears to have impressed. His most productive season in the NFL was with the Jets in 2019, when he caught 17 of 31 targets for 225 yards. However, he's made just nine appearances and caught one pass since then.

Smith worked out for the Buccaneers on Wednesday, Aaron Wilson of Sportstalk 790 Houston reports. The 25-year-old was brought in ahead of the Buccaneers' wild-card matchup with the Rams on Sunday. With many of their wide receivers banged up, Smith could be brought in to provide another depth option behind Mike Evans this weekend.

Smith (illness) was restored to the Jets' practice squad from the practice squad COVID-19 list Thursday. Smith was on the COVID-19 list the past 10 days after testing positive for the virus. He's appeared in two games for the Jets this season and failed to catch his lone target.

  • Vyncint Smith: Goes on COVID-19 list

Smith reverted to the Jets' practice squad following Sunday's loss to the Dolpihns and was placed on the practice squad/COVID-19 list after testing positive for the virus Monday, Ralph Vacchiano of SportsNet New York reports. Smith was one of five players in the organization to test positive Monday. The 6-foot-3 wideout has been elevated both of the last two weeks, playing 27 snaps and garnering one target between those contests. Even if Smith is able to test out of the protocol and is added back to the roster for the Jets' Week 16 matchup with the Jaguars, he won't be in store for a meaningful role on offense.

  • Vyncint Smith: Sent back to practice squad

Smith reverted back to the Jets' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's transaction log. The wide receiver was elevated for Sunday's loss against the Saints, but he failed to register a catch on one target. • Jets' Vyncint Smith: No catches in season debut

Smith failed to catch his only target in Sunday's 30-9 loss to the Saints. Smith failed to make a mark on the contest after being elevated from the practice squad for his season debut. Fellow practice squad elevation D.J. Montgomery was much more active, catching three of six targets for 36 yards. The injury-riddled Jets may elevate both receivers again in Week 15 against the Dolphins, but Montgomery will likely get first crack over Smith if they choose only one.

Smith was elevated from the practice squad Saturday. Smith has been on the Jets' practice squad throughout the season, though he has not yet been active for a game. • Vyncint Smith: Joins Jets' practice squad

Smith was added to the Jets' practice squad Wednesday, Andy Vasquez of USA Today Sports reports. Smith passed through waivers unclaimed after being cut by the Jets on Tuesday, allowing New York to stash him on the practice squad. Injuries limited Smith's impact last season, but he produced 277 scrimmage yards for the Jets in 2019, suggesting he can fill in capably if the injury bug bites the team's receiving corps.

  • Vyncint Smith: Fails to make Jets' roster

Smith was waived by the Jets on Tuesday, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports. Smith had his opportunities to secure a roster spot throughout camp but ultimately failed to do so after the Jets beefed up their receiving corps via both free agency and the draft. He's a speedster who can also contribute on kick returns, so it wouldn't be surprising to see the 25-year-old receiver get a shot elsewhere before long. Smith being let go likely means Braxton Berrios will stick around; perhaps Berrios' superior ability as a punt returner ultimately made the difference.

  • Jets' Vyncint Smith: Right on roster bubble

Smith caught two of four targets for 32 yards and added 94 yards on four kickoff returns in Friday's preseason finale against the Eagles. Smith hasn't stood out enough to guarantee himself a roster spot this preseason, but he also hasn't underwhelmed enough to take himself out of the running. His contributions on special teams are certainly a point in his favor, but Smith should either be among the last guys in or just miss the cut when the Jets unveil their 53-man roster ahead of the regular season.

  • Jets' Vyncint Smith: Fifth WR in camp so far

Smith has worked as the Jets' No. 5 receiver so far in camp, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports. Smith surprisingly has been ahead of 2020 second-round pick Denzel Mims, as well as fellow holdover Braxton Berrios. Couple Smith's usage so far with his versatility -- he can contribute as a return man on special teams and speedy gadget guy on offense -- and the 25-year-old receiver's building a strong case to make the Jets' regular-season roster.

  • Jets' Vyncint Smith: Ruled out for MNF

Smith (groin) is listed as inactive heading into the Jets' Monday night matchup against the Patriots. The third-year receiver had suited up in each of the Jets' past three games, though he entered Monday listed as doubtful. A missed practice Friday hinted at the fact that Smith ultimately would prove unable to suit up after he had logged a limited session the day prior. The Limestone College product fielded 13 offensive snaps last Sunday against the Chiefs, meaning opportunities may slightly increase for No. 4 and 5 WR options Braxton Berrios and Jeff Smith.

  • Jets' Vyncint Smith: Unable to practice Friday

Smith (groin) didn't practice Friday. Smith's trending in the wrong direction, as he went from participating on a limited basis Thursday to not practicing at all Friday. Even with the benefit of an extra day to get right, Smith will likely need to participate at some level Saturday to have a realistic shot at suiting up against New England come Monday.

  • Jets' Vyncint Smith: First catch comes in Week 8

Smith made a 13-yard catch on his lone target in Sunday's 35-9 loss to Kansas City. The catch was Smith's first of the season in his third game. The speedy receiver caught 17 balls last season and will hope to take on a larger role in the injury-riddled Jets receiving corps moving forward.
