  • Blake Jarwin: Tries out with Philly

The Eagles worked out Jarwin (hip) on Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports. After tearing his ACL in Week 1 of the 2020-21 NFL campaign, Jarwin has since dealt with a nagging hip issue that's caused him to see game action just eight times across the last two years. However, his workout for the Eagles on Tuesday suggests that the 28-year-old tight end is in a comfortable spot health-wise, and he'll now await further opportunities to rejuvenate his professional career.

  • Blake Jarwin: Cut by Cowboys

The Cowboys released Jarwin (hip) with a failed physical designation Friday, Nick Eatman of the team's official site reports. The team also announced the release of kicker Greg Zuerlein on Friday, with the moves freeing up cap space for the team in advance of free agency. Jarwin isn't expected to be available for the start of the 2022 campaign after he recently underwent hip surgery.

  • Cowboys' Blake Jarwin: Unlikely to be ready to begin 2022

Jarwin isn't expected to be available for the start of the 2022 campaign after he recently underwent hip surgery, Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News reports. Jarwin's procedure is usually reserved for hockey and basketball players, and the surgery is uncommon among active NFL players. While the Cowboys are optimistic in his ability to recover, he's expected to carry a timetable of 6-to-8 months before he's cleared to return, Clarence E. Hill Jr. of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports. As a result, the team could choose to restructure his contract or cut him during the offseason. Dalton Schultz is slated to become an unrestricted free agent in mid-March, so the Cowboys could make a push to bring him back or give him the franchise tag.

  • Cowboys' Blake Jarwin: Another injury-plagued campaign

Jarwin caught 11 of 17 targets for 96 yards and two touchdowns over eight games this season. Once again, injuries cut short Jarwin's campaign, as this time a hip issue cost him most of the second half. The tight end has two years and $11.5 million left on his current contract and has suited up for only nine games over the last two seasons, and while the Cowboys could get out of the deal without taking much of a salary cap hit, they're more likely to hang onto Jarwin and hope he can stay healthy in 2022 with Dalton Schultz potentially priced out of their plans as a free agent.

  • Cowboys' Blake Jarwin: Makes catch in return

Jarwin caught one of two targets for six yards in Saturday's 51-26 win over the Eagles. Making his return from a nine-game absence due to a hip injury, Jarwin was eased back into action and saw only 12 snaps. He also showed his rust on the target he didn't catch, letting a potential touchdown slip through his hands at the end of the second quarter. Dalton Schultz is the clear No. 1 tight end for Dallas, but Jarwin could see a larger role in the offense when the Cowboys host the 49ers in the wild-card round Sunday.

  • Cowboys' Blake Jarwin: Returns off IR

Jarwin (hip) was activated off injured reserve Saturday. Jarwin hasn't played since injuring his hip in Week 8, but prior to that the veteran tight end had fallen out of favor for the emerging Dalton Schultz. Don't expect that to change, particularly with Schultz solidifying his role as the No. 1 tight end in recent weeks.

  • Cowboys' Blake Jarwin: Ready for practice

Jarwin (hip) was designated to return from injured reserve Tuesday. The transaction opens up a 21-day window for the Cowboys to evaluate Jarwin in practice before either adding him to the 53-man roster or keeping him on IR for the remainder of the season. Before he was sidelined following Week 8 with a hip injury, Jarwin appeared in seven games and caught 10 of 15 targets for 90 yards and two scores while working as the No. 2 tight end behind Dalton Schultz. If he's able to demonstrate good health in practices Tuesday through Thursday, Jarwin could be activated from IR and suit up in Saturday's regular-season finale with the Eagles. Dallas would still have the opportunity to bring Jarwin back for the postseason even if he's not ready to go for Week 18.

  • Cowboys' Blake Jarwin: Not ready this week

Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy said Wednesday that Jarwin (hip) should resume on-field work next week or the week after, Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News reports. The timeline suggests Jarwin won't be back until the playoffs, or perhaps the final week of the regular season. Either way, Dalton Schultz is locked in as the Cowboys' top tight end, though he's in the final year of his rookie contract. Jarwin's deal run through 2023, albeit with no guarantees after this year, per OverTheCap.com.

  • Cowboys' Blake Jarwin: Could return this season

Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy said Wednesday that Jarwin (hip) remains a candidate to return from injured reserve in 2021, Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News reports. Jarwin was placed on injured reserve in early November and recently had a stint on the reserve/COVID-19 list, but he's since cleared all virus-related protocols. Though he's back at the Cowboys' facility, Jarwin has yet to be cleared to practice, though McCarthy said the tight end is "optimistic" about his chances of returning down the stretch. Since he's already missed more than the minimum three games, Jarwin is eligible to be designated for return from IR as soon as the Cowboys deem him ready to resume handling reps.

  • Cowboys' Blake Jarwin: Moves to COVID-19 list

The Cowboys placed Jarwin (hip) on the reserve/COVID-19 list Friday, Field Yates of ESPN reports. Jarwin already resided on injured reserve due to a hip injury he sustained Week 8 against the Vikings. It's unclear whether he tested positive or merely was a close contact of someone who did, but if he clears league protocols in the near future he could be available for next Thursday's contest at New Orleans, as he's missed four games while on IR.

  • Cowboys' Blake Jarwin: Placed on IR

The Cowboys have placed Jarwin (hip) on injured reserve, Calvin Watkins of The Dallas Morning News reports. Jarwin was already ruled out for the Cowboys' Week 9 matchup with the Broncos, and it appears his hip injury is a multi-week issue. He will now be forced to miss at least three weeks before he is eligible to return. While Dalton Schultz will remain the team's primary pass catcher at tight end, Sean McKeon and Jeremy Sprinkle could see some extra snaps as a result of this move.

  • Cowboys' Blake Jarwin: Won't play Sunday

Jarwin (hip) will not play Sunday against the Broncos, Rob Phillips of the Cowboys' official site reports. Jarwin had yet to practice this week, so this news doesn't come as a big surprise. He picked up the injury in the Cowboys' Week 8 win over the Vikings. With Jarwin out, the newly activated Sean McKeon (ankle) and Jeremy Sprinkle will look to pick up the extra tight end snaps behind starter Dalton Schultz.

  • Cowboys' Blake Jarwin: Looks unlikely to play Week 9

Jarwin (hip) won't practice Thursday, Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News reports. With consecutive absences to kick off Week 9 prep, Jarwin appears to be trending toward sitting out Sunday's game against the Broncos on account of the hip injury he picked up during the Cowboys' Week 8 win over the Vikings. If Jarwin is in fact sidelined this weekend, the freshly activated Sean McKeon (ankle) along with Jeremy Sprinkle would be in line for snaps at the No. 2 tight end spot behind starter Dalton Schultz.

  • Cowboys' Blake Jarwin: No practice Wednesday

Jarwin isn't participating in Wednesday's practice due to a hip injury, Jon Machota of The Athletic reports. Jarwin picked up the injury in Sunday's win over the Vikings, though the extent of the issue isn't known. He'll have two more opportunities to upgrade his practice activity ahead of a Week 9 matchup with the Broncos.

  • Cowboys' Blake Jarwin: Scores second TD of year

Jarwin caught one of two targets for a one-yard touchdown in Sunday's overtime win over the Patriots. The tight end has only 10 catches through six games, but two of them have gone for scores. Jarwin is the clear No. 2 at his position behind Dalton Schultz, and it might take an injury to Schultz to propel Jarwin back into consistent fantasy relevance in most formats.

  • Cowboys' Blake Jarwin: Finds end zone Sunday

Jarwin caught one of three targets for 18 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's win over the Panthers. Dalton Schultz once again saw a lot more work as a receiver, leading Dallas with eight targets on the day, but Jarwin was able to score his first TD of the season early in the second quarter. Jarwin has yet to see more than four targets or top 37 receiving yards in a game this year, however, making him a risky fantasy play Week 5 against the Giants.

  • Cowboys' Blake Jarwin: Quiet in Monday's rout

Jarwin caught both his targets for 14 yards in Monday's 41-21 win over the Eagles. Meanwhile, fellow tight end Dalton Schultz was Dak Prescott's favorite option on the night, leading the Cowboys in catches, targets and receiving yards while hauling in two TDs. Jarwin has seen a modest role in the Dallas passing game to begin the season, and while he's capable of popping the way Schultz did in any given week, he's a risky fantasy option heading into a Week 4 clash with the Panthers.

  • Cowboys' Blake Jarwin: Three catches against Bolts

Jarwin caught three of four targets for 37 yards in Sunday's win over the Chargers. It wasn't much, but Jarwin still produced better numbers than Dalton Schultz. It will likely take an injury to one of them to make the other a viable fantasy option on a weekly basis.

  • Cowboys' Blake Jarwin: Three grabs in Week 1

Jarwin caught three of four targets for 20 yards in a Week 1 loss to the Buccaneers. As expected, Jarwin and Dalton Schultz cannibalized each other's opportunities, with the latter catching all six of his targets for 45 yards. Which of the two posts better numbers could vary from week to week, but neither likely will be rosterable in most fantasy formats as long as both Dallas tight ends are healthy.

  • Cowboys' Blake Jarwin: Sees snaps Friday

Jarwin failed to catch his only target during Friday's preseason loss to the Cardinals. The Cowboys have been taking it easy on Jarwin so far as he makes his way back from ACL surgery, but with Dalton Schultz (ankle) now sidelined, Jarwin's schedule may have been accelerated slightly as he saw his first action this preseason Friday. The 27-year-old tight end was only on the field for a couple series, but his workload will likely get ramped up next week against the Texans.
