  • Seahawks' Mike Jackson: Inks RFA tender

Jackson signed his contract with the Seahawks as a restricted free agent Monday, John Boyle of the team's official site reports. Jackson started all 17 regular-season games for Seattle in 2022, though he logged just four starts in 2023 (while recording 34 tackles) despite the same amount of appearances. The 2019 fifth-rounder figures to reprise a key defensive role at cornerback with the Seahawks during the 2024 campaign.

  • Seahawks' Mike Jackson: Competing for starting spot

Jackson is competing for a spot as a starting corner, Curtis Crabtree of Fox 13 Seattle reports. Jackson will have a chance at starting Week 1 despite struggling in Saturday's win versus the Cowboys. • Seahawks' Mike Jackson: Projects as backup

Jackson will likely serve as a backup in 2023 after the Seahawks selected Devon Witherspoon in the first round of this year's draft, Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times reports. Head coach Pete Carroll mentioned that Jackson and Witherspoon will compete for the job at left cornerback while second-year corner Tariq Woolen starts on the right side and Coby Bryant mans the slot. Carroll embraces competition, but when a team picks a corner fifth overall, he's going to start sooner than later. Jackson posted 75 tackles (63 solo) last season as a starter, so he'll be a useful IDP option if he does crack the starting lineup.

  • Michael Jackson: Out of New England

Jackson was waived by the Patriots on Thursday, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports. Jackson was dealt from the Lions to the Patriots back at the beginning of August for a conditional 2022 draft pick, but he clearly was less than impressive with his new club. The cornerback played in one game last season for the Lions, contributing only on special teams.

  • Cowboys' Michael Jackson: Heading to Dallas

The Cowboys selected Jackson in the fifth round of the 2019 NFL Draft, 158th overall. Jackson, a cornerback out of Miami (FL), broke out as a junior with four picks and nine pass breakups in 2017 to earn Second-Team All-ACC honors. He didn't record any interceptions as a senior but still started all 13 games for the Hurricanes. Jackson is a press corner with good speed (4.45) and decent length (32 1/2-inch arms) to grapple with receivers. His selection could be a sign of some dissatisfaction with Jourdan Lewis.
