  • Cardinals' Marlon Mack: Heads to injured reserve

The Cardinals placed Mack (Achilles) on injured reserve Wednesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports. While running into the right flat at Tuesday's practice, Mack attempted to haul in a pass and lost his footing. He required assistance to get to the locker room, and after undergoing tests, he was revealed Wednesday to have sustained a torn left Achilles. He previously tore his right Achilles in the 2020 season opener, which kept him sidelined until Week 2 of the 2021 campaign. Considering the nature of the current health concern, Mack will miss the upcoming campaign, leaving Keaontay Ingram (abdomen), Corey Clement, Ty'Son Williams and Emari Demercado as the Cardinals' reserve running backs behind No. 1 option James Conner.

  • Cardinals' Marlon Mack: Suffers significant injury

Mack sustained a torn left Achilles' tendon during practice Tuesday, Dani Sureck of the Cardinals' official site reports. Mack had just signed with Arizona on Friday, but his hopes of playing in the NFL this season are effectively over. The 27-year-old previously suffered a torn right Achilles' tendon in Week 1 of the 2020 campaign, and he's struggled to find a consistent role in the league ever since. Mack will now work to get healthy, although it's unclear what his future may hold heading into the 2024 season.

  • Cardinals' Marlon Mack: Injures leg Tuesday

Mack departed Tuesday's practice due to a left leg injury, Tyler Drake of ArizonaSports.com reports. Mack sustained the injury during 7-on-7 drills when he appeared to lose his footing. Tuesday's session marked his third since joining the Cardinals last Friday. With Keaontay Ingram also tending to an abdominal injury, Corey Clement, Ty'Son Williams and Emari Demercado are the team's healthy running backs behind starter James Conner.

  • Cardinals' Marlon Mack: Joins forces with Arizona

The Cardinals signed Mack to a one-year contract Friday, Darren Urban of the team's official site reports. After spending the first five years of his career with the Colts, the 2017 fourth-round pick split time between the 49ers and Broncos in 2022, ultimately turning 24 touches into 183 yards and two touchdowns in eight appearances. He ended last season on injured reserve due to a hamstring issue, but following a workout with the Cardinals on Thursday, he's a member of the team one day later. Arizona could use some RB depth in the preseason with starter James Conner unlikely to see much, if any, action. Plus, top backup Keaontay Ingram currently is dealing with an unknown injury, leaving Corey Clement, Ty'Son Williams, Mack and Emari Demercado as the other healthy options.

  • Marlon Mack: Works out with Cardinals

Mack had a workout with Arizona on Thursday, Howard Balzer of GoPHNX.com reports. After spending his first five seasons with the Colts, Mack played six games for the Broncos in the 2022 season and two with the 49ers. The latter placed him on injured reserve in January due to a hamstring injury. His workout with the Cardinals indicates his health is back up to par. There are currently five running backs on Arizona's roster, so it remains to be seen if he will get an opportunity.

  • Broncos' Marlon Mack: Not expected to play Sunday

Mack is expected to miss the Broncos' season finale against the Chargers on Sunday, Mike Klis of 9News Denver reports. Per Klis, Mack injured his hamstring on a kickoff return at the start of the Broncos' Week 17 loss to the Chiefs. With Mack reportedly not in line to play this coming weekend, Tyler Badie figures to suit up versus Los Angeles and log complementary snaps behind Latavius Murray and Chase Edmonds.

  • Broncos' Marlon Mack: Injures hamstring Sunday

Mack suffered a hamstring injury during Sunday's game at Kansas City. Prior to his departure in the first quarter, Mack had one kick return for 20 yards. The Broncos are down to just Latavius Murray and Chase Edmonds at running back as long as Mack is sidelined.

  • Broncos' Marlon Mack: Minimal involvement in loss

Mack rushed four times for 22 yards in Sunday's 51-14 loss to the Rams. Mack was unable to secure his lone target in the contest. With Chase Edmonds making his return from injured reserve, Mack was relegated to No. 3 running back duties Sunday. The veteran played just 10 of the Broncos' 67 offensive snaps, while Latavius Murray and Edmonds handled a near even split of playing time with 31 and 28 snaps, respectively. Mack's lack of involvement on an already struggling offense should keep him far off the fantasy radar when the Broncos visit the Chiefs in Week 17.

  • Broncos' Marlon Mack: Week 16 Waiver Priority List

Mack has scored 15 PPR points in each of his past two games and is the handcuff to Latavius Murray. He's had at least five touches in each of the past two outings against the Chiefs and Cardinals, including six catches on seven targets over that span. In deeper leagues, Mack could be a flex option, including for Week 16 at the Rams.

  • Broncos' Marlon Mack: Finds end zone again

Mack rushed five times for 37 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 24-15 win over Arizona. He added four receptions on four targets for 26 yards. Mack worked clearly behind Latavius Murray in the Denver backfield, recording only nine touches compared to Murray's 25. However, Mack was able to provide a few explosive plays, highlighted by a three-yard touchdown run late in the third quarter and a 17-yard run early in the fourth. While Mack's role remains relatively minimal, he is the clear backup running back in Denver and has scored in consecutive contests.

  • Broncos' Marlon Mack: Week 15 Waiver Priority List

Mack is now the No. 2 running back in Denver with Mike Boone (ankle) out, and he could start taking away work from Latavius Murray, who has struggled as the starter. In Week 14 against the Chiefs, Mack had three carries for 15 yards, along with two catches for 62 yards and a touchdown on three targets. In deeper leagues, Mack is worth 1 percent of your remaining FAB heading into a favorable matchup against Arizona in Week 15.

  • Broncos' Marlon Mack: Dazzling TD in Sunday's loss

Mack carried the ball three times for 15 yards and caught two of three targets for 62 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 34-28 loss to Kansas City. The veteran back didn't see action until Mike Boone was carted off with an ankle injury in the second quarter, but Mack capitalized on his opportunity by taking a screen pass from Russell Wilson (concussion) 66 yards for a TD on the Broncos' first possession of the second half. It was Mack's first trip to the end zone since 2019, his final healthy season with the Colts, and the explosiveness he flashed on the touchdown was certainly reminiscent of that 1,000-yard campaign. Regardless of Boone's availability Week 15 against the Cardinals, Mack could push Latavius Murray for touches in the Denver backfield after this performance.

  • Broncos' Marlon Mack: Minimal involvement in loss

Mack rushed two times for three yards and secured his only target for six yards in Sunday's 10-9 loss to the Ravens. Mack played just five of the Broncos' 53 offensive snaps Sunday, operating as the No. 3 running back. The veteran recorded two rushes and one catch in each of his first two games with Denver. With Latavius Murray dominating touches out of the backfield and Mike Boone slotting in as the team's top backup, Mack's opportunities for meaningful production should remain limited going forward. Barring injuries to Murray and Boone, the 26-year-old should be far off the fantasy radar when the Broncos host the Chiefs in Week 14.

  • Broncos' Marlon Mack: Should have role in Denver debut

Broncos head coach Nathaniel Hackett said Friday that Mack will have a role in the game plan in Sunday's matchup with the Panthers, Jeff Legwold of ESPN.com reports. "He's going to have to go in there and take advantage of this opportunity...he's got a little extra burst," Hackett said of Mack. Denver signed Mack off San Francisco's practice squad Oct. 24, but the veteran running back has been a healthy inactive for each of the Broncos' subsequent three contests. However, with the Broncos waiving Melvin Gordon and placing Chase Edmonds (ankle) on injured reserve in recent days, Mack looks set to operate as the primary backup to starter Latavius Murray in Week 12. Though Murray projects to see most of the touches out of the backfield, he's averaging just 3.3 yards per carry through five games with Denver, so his grasp on the lead role would appear to be weak. With that in mind, Mack could have the chance to displace Murray atop the depth chart if he takes advantage of the opportunities he receives Sunday. However, both Murray and Mack could be challenged for work as soon as Week 13, when Mike Boone (ankle) is eligible to return from IR.

  • Broncos' Marlon Mack: Could be Week 12 backup

Mack is likely to work as the backup to Latavius Murray in Week 12 against the Panthers, Mike Klis of 9News Denver reports. Mack slides up to second on the depth chart following the cut of Melvin Gordon and Chase Edmonds' high-ankle sprain. Devine Ozigbo is a candidate to be elevated from the practice squad against Carolina to compete with Mack for playing time behind Murray. Mack has yet to register a rushing attempt in 2022.

  • Broncos' Marlon Mack: Sitting out Sunday

Mack (coach's decision) is inactive Sunday against the Titans. Mack will be inactive once again, as the team will dress Melvin Gordon, Latavius Murray and Chase Edmonds ahead of him.

  • Broncos' Marlon Mack: Not playing Week 8

Mack (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Jaguars in London, Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site reports. Though Mike Boone's (ankle) recent move to injured reserve opens up a spot for a third running back in Denver, Mack looks like he'll have to wait until after a Week 9 bye to make his Broncos debut after he was signed off the 49ers' practice squad Monday. Mack's lack of utility on special teams may have been a factor in him sitting out in London, as the Broncos are opting to keep Devine Ozigbo active in London as the No. 3 option behind Melvin Gordon and Latavius Murray.

  • Broncos' Marlon Mack: Could play in Week 8

Mack could garner some snaps in the Broncos' backfield in Week 8 against the Jaguars, Zac Stevens of TheDNVR.com reports. Mack was signed to the Broncos' active roster Monday after the team acquired him from the 49ers' practice squad, and head coach Nathaniel Hackett said Friday that the running back is "definitely an option" to play Sunday versus Jacksonville. Mack will likely operate as the third fiddle behind Melvin Gordon and Latavius Murray in Week 8, greatly limiting his upside.

  • Marlon Mack: Signs with 49ers' practice squad

Mack was signed to the 49ers' practice squad Wednesday. Mack will return to 49ers after being released by the team Tuesday, joining their practice unit. The running back seems to have fallen out of favor in San Francisco's backfield and will now operate as an extreme depth option behind starter Jeff Wilson.

  • Marlon Mack: Time with 49ers ends

Mack was released by San Francisco on Tuesday. Mack signed to the 49ers' practice squad Sept. 13, and he ultimately made it to the active roster in Week 3 and 4, but he only contributed five snaps on special teams. He was a healthy inactive Week 5, as the team opted to elevate Tevin Coleman from the practice squad to operate as the team's No. 3 running back instead. Mack has had trouble finding a steady role since suffering an Achilles tear in Week 1 of the 2020 season.
