  • Texans' Eric Murray: Back at it Week 3

    Murray recorded five tackles and forced a fumble in Sunday's 37-17 win over the Jaguars in Week 3. Murray, who was limited to nine plays due to a concussion last week, bounced back quickly and was in on 69 of 73 plays (95 percent). His forced fumble late in the second quarter was recovered by linebacker Blake Cashman and set up a Ka'imi Fairbairn field goal as time expired in the first half. Houston's offense was opportunistic, turning a Jacksonville missed field-goal attempt, a blocked field-goal attempt, an interception and a fumble into 24 points.

  • Texans' Eric Murray: Shoulder surgery revealed

    Murray underwent shoulder surgery during the offseason, Aaron Wilson of SportsTalk 790 AM reports. The surgery slipped through the news cracks during the offseason but came to light this week when Murray did not practice as Houston began its OTAs. "We don't have many guys that are out completely. Jonathan Greenard and a few of our other players, Eric Murray, you see some of the guys had offseason surgeries and you probably won't see them until training camp, but everybody's right on schedule being able to do something," head coach Lovie Smith said. Murray is expected to be ready for training camp and is set to resume his role as a starting safety.

    Murray agreed to a two-year, $10 million contract extension with the Texans on Wednesday, Aaron Wilson of ProFootballNetwork.com reports. Murray has spent the last two years in Houston, and he's had the best two seasons of his career with the Texans. He appeared in 16 games last year and recorded 76 tackles (48 solo), an interception and four pass defenses. The 28-year-old is in line to serve as a starting safety once again in 2022.

Murray (5-foot-11, 199 pounds) logged a 4.49-second 40, 39.5-inch vertical and 124-inch broad jump. With 31.75-inch arms, Murray should have the reach to press effectively.
