  • Grizzlies' Jaylen Nowell: Efficient night off bench

Nowell had 12 points (6-8 FG, 0-2 3Pt), four assists and two rebounds across 26 minutes in Wednesday's 116-102 win over the Pistons. Nowell returned to the bench for Wednesday's game after starting Saturday against the Suns. He led the reserves in scoring and joined Desmond Bane and Jaren Jackson as the only Grizzlies players to score in double digits. Nowell signed another 10-day contract with Memphis on Sunday and has scored in double digits in two of his last three appearances.

  • Grizzlies' Jaylen Nowell: Returns to bench

Nowell isn't in the starting five for Wednesday's game versus Detroit. Nowell will be replaced by Derrick Rose in the starting lineup Wednesday. Nowell is averaging 5.8 points, 2.8 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 13.8 minutes across his previous four appearances coming off the bench for the Grizzlies this season.

  • Grizzlies' Jaylen Nowell: Gets another 10-day contract

Nowell agreed Sunday with the Grizzlies on a second 10-day hardship contract, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports. Nowell has appeared in five games with the Grizzlies after the league granted Memphis two hardship exceptions to combat the team's injury woes. The 24-year-old has seen his playing time progressively increase over his five contests with Memphis and is averaging 6.2 points, 2.4 rebounds, 1.4 assists in 18.6 minutes per game. Nowell's new 10-day deal will keep him under contract for Memphis' next three games, and he could continue to occupy a spot in the rotation until the Grizzlies regain some health or get Ja Morant back from his 25-game suspension to open the season.

  • Grizzlies' Jaylen Nowell: Enters starting lineup

Nowell will move into the starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Suns, Michael Wallace of the Grizzlies' official site reports. Derrick Rose (ankle) is sitting out Saturday, but the Grizzlies will roll with Nowell instead of Jacob Gilyard. However, it's more likely that Desmond Bane handles most of the playmaking for the Grizzlies. Nowell made a strong impression on Friday versus the Mavericks, scoring 19 points with four rebounds, one assist, one steal and two three-pointers.

  • Grizzlies' Jaylen Nowell: Drops season-high 19

Nowell registered 19 points (8-14 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 1-1 FT), four rebounds, one assist and one steal over 26 minutes off the bench during Friday's 108-94 win over the Mavericks. The Grizzlies got contributions from unusual sources Friday as Desmond Bane was the only starter to score more than six points. Nowell saw his first extended action in four games since joining the team and produced his best offensive performance since he scored 51 combined points over back-to-back contests for Minnesota in February of last season. The 2019 second-round pick has shown he's capable of getting hot for short periods, and with Marcus Smart (foot) and Luke Kennard (knee) both unlikely to be back until next weekend, there could be minutes available for Nowell in the short term.

  • Grizzlies' Jaylen Nowell: Held scoreless in win

Nowell chipped in zero points (0-6 FG, 0-3 3Pt), two rebounds and one assist in 18 minutes during Wednesday's 105-91 victory over Utah. Nowell's role has increased slightly over his three appearances with the Grizzlies, but he couldn't connect on any field-goal attempts during Wednesday's comfortable win. Over his three appearances with Memphis, he's averaged 1.3 points and 2.3 rebounds in 11.0 minutes per game.

  • Grizzlies' Jaylen Nowell: To ink 10-day hardship with Memphis

Nowell is expected to sign a 10-day hardship contract with the Grizzlies on Friday, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports. The NBA has granted the injury-riddled Grizzlies two 10-day hardship contract slots -- the team using them on Nowell and Shaquille Harrison. The 2019 second-round pick spent the first four years of his career with the Timberwolves but has been with the G League's Stockton Kings this year. Nowell has flashed offensive upside, but his three-point shot is unstable. Of the two signees, it seems more likely Harrison will see significant action.

Nowell is expected to sign with the Kings on Friday, James Ham of ESPN 1320 Sacramento reports. The details of the deal were not disclosed. Last season, his fourth in Minnesota, Nowell averaged career highs in points (10.8), rebounds (2.6) and minutes played (19.3) per game. He'll compete for a depth spot in Sacramento with Davion Mitchell and Chris Duarte.

  • Timberwolves' Jaylen Nowell: Status in question Friday

Nowell (knee) is questionable for Game 3 against the Nuggets on Friday. That said, he hasn't missed either of the previous two and has averaged 7.0 points and 1.0 assists in 19.0 minutes per game. Nickeil Alexander-Walker and Kyle Anderson will likely see increased minutes off the bench if Nowell cannot go, but it seems likely he will be in uniform again.

  • Timberwolves' Jaylen Nowell: Available for Game 1

Nowell (knee) is available for Game 1 of the Western Conference First Round against the Nuggets on Sunday. Nowell was questionable ahead of Sunday's matchup due to a left knee issue, but he'll be available off the bench. He played 13 minutes during Friday's Play-In Game against the Thunder.

  • Timberwolves' Jaylen Nowell: Questionable for Sunday

Nowell is questionable for Game 1 against the Nuggets on Sunday due to left knee tendinopathy. Nowell played 13 minutes and was not listed on the injury report for Friday's game against the Thunder, so this injury might not be overly serious. Even if he's available, Nowell will likely come off the bench. He started in just two of his 65 appearances during the regular season.

  • Timberwolves' Jaylen Nowell: Not on injury report

Nowell (knee) is not on the final injury report for Friday's Play-In Game against the Thunder. Nowell played 13 minutes against the Lakers on Tuesday, but this time around, Minnesota will be getting Rudy Gobert back from his one-game suspension. Nickeil Alexander-Walker is moving into the starting lineup, so it remains to be seen what type of role Nowell will play.

  • Timberwolves' Jaylen Nowell: Returns for Play-In Tournament

Nowell (knee) logged 13 minutes off the bench in Tuesday's 108-102 overtime loss to the Lakers in the Western Conference Play-In Tournament, recording nine points (4-7 FG, 1-3 3Pt), one assist and one rebound. Nowell missed the Timberwolves' final six games of the regular season with a knee issue, but he captured a spot in head coach Chris Finch's rotation for the first of two Play-In Tournament games for Minnesota, which is now set to host the Thunder on Friday with a spot in the postseason on the line. He'll likely retain a spot on the second unit Friday, but Nowell's role is unlikely to grow substantially while all of Minnesota's key guards are all healthy.
