  Kwan went 3-for-5 with a walk and two runs scored in Tuesday's 10-7 extra-innings win over the Red Sox. Kwan is batting .400 (14-for-35) during his active eight-game hitting streak. He continues to put the ball in play with great success, batting .372 over 17 contests this season. He's added two home runs, five RBI, 18 runs scored and a stolen base. Kwan can still chip in a bit more with speed, but he's doing everything else right from atop the Guardians' order.

  Kwan went 3-for-4 with a run scored during Monday's 4-0 victory over the White Sox. Kwan has gotten off to a scorching start this season with Monday marking Kwan's sixth multi-hit effort of the season and fourth three-hit performance of the young campaign. Kwan lifted his average to .383 on the young season which ranks seventh in all of baseball while his 11 runs scored are tied for fourth.

  Kwan went 3-for-5 with a double and a run scored in Thursday's 4-2 win over the Twins. Kwan logged multiple hits for the third game in a row and the fifth time in eight contests this season. The outfielder is batting a stellar .385 with a home run, three RBI and 10 runs scored over eight contests at the top of a surprisingly productive Guardians lineup. Some of his success comes from it being early in the season, but Kwan hit .298 as a rookie in 2022 before dropping to .268 last season -- he's on track for a better showing if he can avoid lengthy slumps in 2024.

  Kwan went 3-for-5 with three runs scored in Wednesday's 8-0 win over the Mariners. Kwan has multiple hits in four of the first seven games this season, and he's gone hitless just once. The outfielder is 12-for-34 (.353) with three RBI, one home run, nine runs scored and one stolen base. Kwan's also struck out five times, which is only slightly higher than his 10.4 percent strikeout rate last season. The 26-year-old is locked in as the Guardians' leadoff hitter.

The Guardians have posted 26 runs through three games against the A's, with Kwan setting the table nicely atop the order by going 6-for-15 with six runs and a stolen base. The 26-year-old clubbed just 11 home runs in 305 games across his first two MLB seasons, and his 424-foot shot to right-center field Saturday was a welcome show of power for the contact-oriented outfielder, who entered the year with a career .102 ISO.

• Guardians' Steven Kwan: Lock for starting role

  Kwan is 3-for-11 over his first four Cactus League games. Kwan is about the only sure thing in the Guardians' outfield this spring, as he should be a lock to start in left field. His second big-league season was a little worse than his rookie year -- he slashed .268/.340/.370 in 2023. Kwan is a contact-over-power hitter with a good eye at the plate (9.9 percent walk rate, 10.4 percent strikeout rate in 2023). He should also offer a speed threat after going 40-for-48 on the basepaths over his first two campaigns.

The outfielder returned in a big way, delivering his third multi-hit effort in his last five games. Kwan hit just .257 in June, and he's batting .266 with a .699 OPS through 83 contests overall. He's added two home runs, 25 RBI, 56 runs scored, 13 stolen bases, 20 doubles and two triples while routinely working out of the leadoff spot. Assuming the shoulder issue doesn't flare up again, he should remain in a near-everyday role.

• Guardians' Steven Kwan: Starting in series opener

  Kwan will start in left field and bat leadoff in Monday's series opener versus Atlanta. After starting in all but two of the Guardians' first 80 games of the season, Kwan was on the bench twice over the weekend during Cleveland's three-game set with the Cubs. Kwan's absence from the lineup Friday was believed to be a rest day, but according to MLB.com, he sat out Sunday's 8-6 win after he experienced lingering soreness in his shoulder, stemming from a collision with the left field wall Saturday. Fortunately, the day off appears to be all that Kwan needed to overcome the shoulder issue, so he'll most likely start all seven of Cleveland's games this week before the Guardians head into the All-Star break.
