Meadows went 1-for-3 with a double in Friday's Grapefruit League game against the Orioles and is now batting .350 this spring with a 1.131 OPS. Meadows has been on a tear, recording two home runs and two doubles across eight games this spring. The young outfielder appears to be Detroit's top option in center, and after an up-and-down first 37 games in 2023, Meadows may be ready for a breakout in his first full season at the MLB level in 2024.... Tigers' Parker Meadows: Likely to stick in center
Meadows appears likely to be Detroit's everyday center fielder to begin 2024, with Riley Greene (elbow) shifting to a corner spot, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports. The team likes what Meadows gives them defensively in center, so Greene, who is coming back from Tommy John surgery, will probably play most days in right. Offseason addition Mark Canha will then probably take left, with Matt Vierling and Akil Baddoo around to provide depth. Meadows flashed some potential as a rookie in 2023, notably swiping eight bags in 37 games. However, he'll need to improve upon his .699 OPS if he wants to make a larger fantasy impact in his first full season.... See More ... See Less -
Tigers' Parker Meadows: Sidelined versus lefty
Meadows isn't starting Friday against Oakland. Meadows will get to rest Friday as southpaw Ken Waldichuk starts on the mound for the A's. Matt Vierling will move to center field as a result, allowing Tyler Nevin to start at third base.... See More ... See Less -
Tigers' Parker Meadows: Goes yard Tuesday
Meadows went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 3-2 loss to the Dodgers. Meadows' third-inning blast gave the Tigers a 2-0 lead, but their offense was limited to four hits and a walk over the final six innings of the game. Meadows has gone 4-for-16 (.250) over his last six contests. The rookie outfielder is batting .200 with two homers, nine RBI, 11 runs scored and five stolen bases through his first 101 plate appearances in the majors.... See More ... See Less -
Tigers' Parker Meadows: Cranks walk-off home run
Meadows went 1-for-2 with a walk-off, three-run home run and two walks in Friday's 4-1 victory over the Astros. The Tigers tied the game with three straight singles off Houston closer Ryan Pressly before Meadows delivered the knockout blow with his first major-league home run. They were also the first three RBI of his brief big-league career in his fourth game for Detroit. The rookie outfielder has reached base eight times in those four contests.... See More ... See Less -
Tigers' Parker Meadows: Call-up imminent
Meadows will be recalled from Triple-A Toledo on Monday. Meadows got off to a slightly slow start to the season but has righted the ship, slashing .256/.337/.474 with 19 homers, 78 runs, 65 RBI and 19 stolen bases over 113 games with the Triple-A club. The 23-year-old is among the Tigers' top prospects and will be available to make his major-league debut Monday.... See More ... See Less -
Tigers' Parker Meadows: Rebounds after slow start
Meadows is slashing .285/.347/.545 with 10 home runs, seven steals and a 23.6 percent strikeout rate in his last 200 at-bats for Triple-A Toledo. Meadows got off to a slow start in his first exposure to Triple-A pitching, posting a .676 OPS in his first 37 games, but things started clicking as the weather warmed up in mid-to-late May. He is already on the 40-man roster and turns 24 this offseason, so a promotion to the big leagues could come before season's end.... See More ... See Less -
Tigers' Parker Meadows: Optioned to Triple-A
Meadows was optioned to Triple-A Toledo by the Tigers on Tuesday. Austin's brother has had a big spring, posting an 1.130 OPS with four home runs. With no experience above Double-A ball, though, he's in need of some refinement. Meadows is regarded as one of the Tigers' better position-player prospects.... See More ... See Less -
Tigers' Parker Meadows: Joining 40-man roster
Meadows was added to the Tigers' 40-man roster Tuesday, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports. Meadows is one of Detroit's top prospects, and the organization added him to the 40-man roster in order to protect him from the upcoming Rule 5 draft. He spent most of last season at Double-A Erie and posted a .275/.354/.466 slash line with 16 home runs, 51 RBI and 17 stolen bases. He should be able to make his way to Triple-A Toledo sometime in 2023.... See More ... See Less -
Tigers' Parker Meadows: Lands on injured list
Meadows landed on the minor-league injured list with High-A West Michigan on Thursday with an undisclosed injury, Emily Waldon of The Athletic reports. The young outfielder was really struggling to start the season, hitting just .129/.282/.200 through his first 18 games. It's unclear whether or not those struggles were injury-related.... Tigers' Parker Meadows: Added to 60-man pool
Meadows was added to the Tigers' 60-man player pool Thursday. The younger brother of Austin Meadows, Parker has a very high ceiling thanks to plus raw power and easy plus speed, but the quality of his contact left a lot to be desired last year at Low-A (.221/.296/.312 slash line in 504 plate appearances). He turns 21 this offseason and will likely spend most, if not all of 2021 at High-A.... See More ... See Less -
Tigers' Parker Meadows: Big game in return
Meadows (undisclosed) went 4-for-5 with a double, an RBI and three runs scored in Low-A West Michigan's win over Beloit on Wednesday. Batting leadoff for the Whitecaps, the 19-year-old Meadows established a new career high for hits in a game. He was making his return after missing several games following a collision in the outfield last weekend. The younger brother of Rays outfielder Austin Meadows, Parker is still batting just .234/.318/.337 for the season and seems likely to play out the rest of the year with West Michigan.... See More ... Tigers' Parker Meadows: Out of Sunday's lineup
Meadows isn't starting Sunday for Low-A West Michigan after being involved in a collision in the outfield Saturday night, Emily Waldon of The Athletic reports. The extent of Meadows' injury is unclear at this point, so it remains to be seen whether he'll miss a significant amount of time while on the mend. He'll be considered day-to-day until further notice.... See More ... See Less -
Tigers' Parker Meadows: Showing speed in minors
Meadows has three stolen bases and an inside-the-park home run though 17 games with Low-A West Michigan. The .243/.293/.357 slash line is less promising for Meadows, but the athletic 19-year-old is making up for it somewhat with his wheels. Scouts have questioned Meadows' hit tool, so the next step in his development will be to make more regular contact so he can utilize his speed on the bases more often.... See More ... See Less
