Tigers' Julio E. Rodriguez: Signs with Detroit
Rodriguez agreed to a minor-league contract with the Tigers on Friday, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports. Rodriguez signed with the Cardinals as a teenager in 2016 and spent the past six years in their minor-league system. Cardinals' Julio E. Rodriguez: Kicks off rehab assignment
Rodriguez (undisclosed) began a rehab assignment Saturday with the Cardinals' rookie-level Florida Complex League affiliate, going 0-for-2 with a walk while catching three innings. Rodriguez has been on the shelf at Double-A Springfield since May 11 with the unspecified injury. Cardinals' Julio Rodriguez: Reassigned to minor-league camp
Rodriguez was reassigned to minor-league spring training Tuesday, Shannon Drayer of 710 ESPN Seattle reports. The 22-year-old will likely rejoin Double-A Springfield, where he played 14 games to finish the 2019 season, hitting .222/.255/.311 with seven RBI across 47 plate appearances. Rodriguez had a great opportunity to learn from the major-league coaching staff to begin spring and will look to continue to climb the minor-league ladder this early in the year.... See More ... He led off next inning with single and cupped his hands around ears to hear boos from Sox fans. A stolen base and sac fly later, he scores Tigers' first run of 2024.
