Rodriguez went 3-for-6 with a solo home run, a walk, one stolen base and three total runs scored in Friday's 10-9 extra-innings loss to the Giants. Rodriguez got the scoring started early, tagging Justin Verlander for a first-inning homer. This was a glimpse of what Rodriguez can do when he puts it all together, though he has been a slow starter in the last couple of years. He's batting .250 with two homers, four RBI, six runs scored and three steals over 36 plate appearances following his impressive effort Friday.... See More ... See Less

Mariners' Julio Rodriguez: Launches first home run
Rodriguez went 1-for-3 with a two-run homer in Sunday's 2-1 win over the Athletics. Rodriguez got Seattle on the board in the sixth inning with a 438-foot blast off JP Sears that proved to be all the offense the Mariners would need in the one-run victory. It's an encouraging sign for the 24-year-old Rodriguez, who's looking to rebound power-wise from a down 2024 -- he hit 20 home runs while posting a .734 OPS in 613 plate appearances.... See More ... Mariners' Julio Rodriguez: Swipes two bags Saturday
Rodriguez went 0-for-2 with two walks and two stolen bases in a loss to the Athletics on Saturday. Rodriguez has just one hit through nine at-bats this season, but he's also notched three walks. The star center fielder took advantage of his first free pass Saturday by swiping second and third base, though he was then thrown out at home on a groundball. Rodriguez should be a steady source of steals for fantasy managers again this season after averaging 28.7 thefts over his first three big-league campaigns.... See More ... See Less -
Mariners' Julio Rodriguez: Back from illness Friday
Rodriguez (illness) is starting in center field and batting second in Friday's split-squad game against the Reds. Rodriguez has been dealing with an illness this week but is ready to rejoin the lineup Friday after taking a few days to rest up. The 24-year-old totaled 20 homers and 24 steals in 143 games last season but also had a career-worst .734 OPS. Rodriguez is batting just .229 through 13 spring games but has found his power stroke with three long balls.... See More ... See Less -
Mariners' Julio Rodriguez: Falls ill Monday
Rodriguez was scratched from the lineup for Monday's Cactus League game against the Athletics due to an illness, Shannon Drayer of SeattleSports.com reports. Rodriguez wasn't feeling well upon reporting to the ballpark Monday, so he'll likely receive a day or two off before making his return to the lineup. Luke Raley will start in center field Monday in Rodriguez's stead. The 22-year-old outfielder has already logged 35 at-bats in Cactus League play, batting .229 with three home runs and one stolen base.... See More ... See Less -
Mariners' Julio Rodriguez: Goes deep twice Wednesday
Rodriguez homered twice in Wednesday's Cactus League game against Kansas City and now has five RBI in 16 at-bats this spring. After launching a solo shot off Royals right-hander Michael Lorenzen in the first inning Wednesday, Rodriguez belted another solo shot in the fourth frame for his first long balls of the spring. The star outfielder is off to a hot start in the Cactus League, which is an encouraging sign for both the Mariners and fantasy managers ahead of the regular season. Seattle's offense mostly struggled last year and didn't see any significant additions this past offseason, but Rodriguez should operate as the lineup's engine in 2025 and holds five-category upside despite coming off a career-worst .734 OPS.... Mariners' Julio Rodriguez: Three hits, steal in win
Rodriguez went 3-for-5 with a double, two RBI, one stolen base and one run scored in Monday's 6-1 win over the Astros. Rodriguez has six multi-hit efforts over his last 10 games, going 22-for-48 (.458) with 16 RBI in that stretch. The outfielder's surge has helped to keep the Mariners' slim playoff chances alive. He's now at a .275/.328/.411 slash line with 19 home runs, 65 RBI, 71 runs scored and 24 steals over 138 contests this season.... See More ... See Less -
Mariners' Julio Rodriguez: Monster performance in win
Rodriguez went 4-for-6 with a home run, four RBI, a stolen base and an additional run scored in Saturday's 8-4 win over the Rangers. Rodriguez smacked a leadoff homer and remained a pest at the plate and on the bases all night. The 23-year-old has been scorching hot over his past 10 games, going 19-for-46 with three four-hit efforts and five long balls. On the season, he's batting .272 with 19 home runs, 61 RBI, 70 runs scored and 23 steals across 580 plate appearances.... See More ... See Less -
Mariners' Julio Rodriguez: Keeps raking in Saturday's victory
Rodriguez went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and a walk in a win over the Rangers on Saturday. The resurgent Rodriguez continued knocking the cover off the ball Saturday, launching a 446-foot shot to left field in the third inning for his second homer in as many games. Rodriguez's multi-hit effort was also his fourth in the last eight games, and he's now boasting a .351 average and .952 OPS across the 39 plate appearances covering the entirety of that stretch.... Mariners' Julio Rodriguez: Monster game fuels comeback win
Rodriguez went 4-for-5 with a three-run home run, a double and two total runs scored in Friday's 5-4 win over the Rangers. Rodriguez has found a groove at the plate, going 22-for-64 (.344) with four homers and 12 RBI over his last 15 games. The outfielder was the hero for the Mariners on Friday, with his go-ahead homer in the eighth inning giving them a comeback win. Rodriguez is at a .263/.319/.382 slash line with 15 homers, 52 RBI, 64 runs scored and 22 stolen bases over 129 contests this season. His numbers are down across the board from last year, but his recent hot streak is reason for optimism heading into 2025.... See More ... See Less -
Mariners' Julio Rodriguez: Steals base, scores run in loss
Rodriguez went 1-for-4 with a walk, a stolen base and a run scored in Thursday's loss to Texas. The 23-year-old outfielder singled and stole second in his first trip to the plate but was left stranded as Seattle struggled to get anything going on offense early. He would later draw a walk in the fifth before coming around to score on a Randy Arozarena single. Rodriguez has tallied multiple hits only twice this month and is batting .245 (12-for-49) in September with one homer, three RBI, 10 runs and four stolen bases. Thursday's steal was his 22nd of the campaign.... See More ... See Less -
Mariners' Julio Rodriguez: Swipes 21st bag in win
Rodriguez went 3-for-5 with a run scored and a stolen base in Friday's 6-1 win over the Cardinals. The center fielder impressed with his glove Friday as much as his bat and legs, but Rodriguez still extended his current hitting streak to nine games while stealing his 31st bag of the season. Since returning from an ankle injury in mid-August, the 23-year-old is slashing .256/.340/.400 over 23 contests with three homers, three stolen bases, 12 RBI and 13 runs.... See More ... See Less -
Mariners' Julio Rodriguez: Swipes 20th bag in loss
Rodriguez went 1-for-3 with a walk, an RBI, a run scored and a stolen base in Monday's 5-4 loss to the Athletics. Rodriguez tallied his third consecutive 20-steal season and then crossed home plate to tie the score at 4-4 in the sixth inning. He has hit safely in five straight games and stolen a base on back-to-back days for the first time since returning from the injured list Aug. 11. On the season, the 23-year-old is hitting .259 with 13 home runs, 47 RBI and 53 runs scored across 496 plate appearances.... See More ... See Less -
Mariners' Julio Rodriguez: Goes yard in Friday's win
Rodriguez went 1-for-2 with a two-run home run, three walks and three total runs scored in Friday's 9-5 win over the Angels. Rodriguez's fourth-inning homer ended up being the game-winning hit, as it put the Mariners up 7-2. After going 14 games without a long ball following a stint on the injured list due to a sprained ankle, Rodriguez has homered in each of the last two contests. He's up to 13 homers, 44 RBI, 52 runs scored, 18 stolen bases, 12 doubles and a .255/.313/.369 slash line over 116 games this season.... See More ... See Less -
Mariners' Julio Rodriguez: Connects for 12th homer
Rodriguez went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run in a win over the Rays on Wednesday. He was also caught stealing for the fifth time this season. Rodriguez's first home run since July 20, a 356-foot shot to left with J.P. Crawford aboard in the fifth inning, extended the Mariners' lead to 5-1 at the time. The round tripper was the highlight of Rodriguez's first multi-hit effort since Aug. 16 and helped snap the 1-for-27 skid he'd entered the game mired in. Despite some intermittent stretches of production at the plate this season, the talented outfielder's .253/.308/.362 slash line has Rodriguez on track to regress in all three categories for the second consecutive campaign.... Mariners' Julio Rodriguez: On base three times Saturday
Rodriguez went 1-for-3 with a double, a bases-loaded walk and a second free pass in Saturday's 4-3 loss to the Giants. Rodriguez drew his second straight start in center field, corroborating that he's made a return to full health after he had previously been limited to designated-hitter duties following his return from an ankle injury. He enjoyed a productive night at the plate and on the basepaths while delivering his third extra-base hit over the 10 games he's played since returning from the injured list. All of those knocks have been doubles, as Rodriguez hasn't left the yard since July 20, the penultimate game before his IL stint. However, he's been a constant presence on the bases in the first two games of the current series, reaching safely five times in his first 10 plate appearances against San Francisco.... See More ... Mariners' Julio Rodriguez: Could be back in outfield soon
Rodriguez, who's exclusively filled a DH role since being activated from the injured list Aug. 11, could resume playing center field during the Mariners' next homestand that begins Friday, MLB.com reports. The Mariners have unsurprisingly been cautious with Rodriguez's previously sprained right ankle, an injury that led to his near three-week absence. However, manager Scott Servais said Tuesday that Rodriguez is back to running at top speed and therefore is likely to begin playing defense again in coming days. The slugger has been relatively productive while focusing solely on hitting over the last eight games, producing a .258 average with two doubles, an RBI, a walk and two runs across 33 plate appearances in that span.... Mariners' Julio Rodriguez: Two hits in return
Rodriguez (ankle) went 2-for-4 with a double in a loss to the Pirates on Friday. Rodriguez was back in the starting nine as the designated hitter following his one-game absence due to his troublesome ankle. The two-bagger Friday notably came off rookie phenom Paul Skenes and served as Rodriguez's second extra-base hit in the four games he's played since returning from his IL stint. Rodriguez also has back-to-back multi-hit efforts and has reached safely in three straight, but he may largely be limited to DH duties for the foreseeable future while the team tries to manage his health.... Mariners' Julio Rodriguez: Exits early with ankle injury
Rodriguez made an early exit from Wednesday's game against the Tigers due to a right ankle injury, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports. Rodriguez tweaked his ankle during his at-bat in the eighth inning but was able to remain in the game briefly, logging an RBI single before being replaced on the basepaths. Manager Scott Servais said after the game that the 23-year-old's injury isn't a serious issue, so it's possible he'll be able to return to Seattle's lineup without missing any time.... See More ... Mariners' Julio Rodriguez: Officially back from IL
The Mariners reinstated Rodriguez (ankle) from the 10-day injured list Sunday. The 23-year-old landed on the shelf in late July due to a right high-ankle sprain, but he ramped up his rehab work over the past few days and will rejoin the lineup for Sunday's series finale versus the Mets. Rodriguez is expected to serve as Seattle's designated hitter initially, and it's unclear when he'll return to the everyday role in center field.... See More ... See Less
