Moncada (adductor) plans to head to extended spring training in the coming days to continue his rehab, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports. Moncada is just over a week removed from suffering a left adductor strain but is already feeling much better. The process will be deliberate, though, as he's on the 60-day injured list and isn't expected to return to action until around the All-Star break.... See More ... See Less

White Sox's Yoan Moncada: Could return after All-Star break
White Sox general manager Chris Getz said Friday that the club is optimistic Moncada (adductor) can return sometime after the All-Star break, James Fegan of SoxMachine.com reports. Moncada was given an initial timetable of 3-to-6 months to return from an adductor strain, and it sounds like he'll have a shot to make it back closer to the early side of that timeline. The third baseman was shifted to the 60-day injured list Friday. Lenyn Sosa has assumed third base duties for the White Sox.... See More ... See Less -
White Sox's Yoan Moncada: Shifted to 60-day IL
Moncada (adductor) was transferred to the 60-day injured list by the White Sox on Friday. The White Sox needed to clear a couple spots on their 40-man roster and this move frees up one of them. Moncada is expected to be sidelined for 3-to-6 months with a left adductor strain.... See More ... See Less -
White Sox's Yoan Moncada: Expected to miss 3-to-6 months
The White Sox placed Moncada on the 10-day injured list Wednesday with a left adductor strain. He's expected to be out for 3-to-6 months. The strain is evidently of the Grade 2 or 3 variety, given that the White Sox are expecting a long-term stay on the shelf for Moncada. It's yet another injury for a player that has been plagued by chronic back and leg issues over the last two seasons. Lenyn Sosa and Braden Shewmake could be in line for more playing time in the infield while Moncada is sidelined.... See More ... See Less -
White Sox's Yoan Moncada: Suffers adductor strain
Moncada was removed from Tuesday's game against the Guardians with a left adductor strain. Moncada suffered the injury running out a grounder during the second inning and appeared to be in significant pain before being helped off the field. The 28-year-old was reported to be playing through minor groin/hip soreness of late, which seems likely to be the cause of Tuesday's injury.... See More ... See Less -
White Sox's Yoan Moncada: Playing through hip/groin issue
Moncada has been playing through some minor hip/groin soreness in recent days, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports. It's worrisome, given that Moncada has dealt with chronic issues to his lower half over the last two seasons. For now, though, it appears he'll continue to play through it, and he's off to a solid start that includes a .270/.357/.405 slash line over his first 10 games.... See More ... See Less -
White Sox's Yoan Moncada: Hitting well to start season
Moncada went 2-for-5 with a double Sunday against the Royals. Moncada tallied only his second multi-hit game of the season, but he has at least one knock in seven of his nine games. He also boasts an impressive 13.2 percent walk rate. Despite his strong individual start to the new campaign, Moncada has just three runs scored and zero RBI due to the poor lineup context around him -- something that doesn't project to change in 2024.... White Sox's Yoan Moncada: Set to play Thursday
Moncada (illness) will start at third base and bat second in Thursday's Cactus League game against the Royals. Moncada was scratched from the lineup ahead of Wednesday's game against the Reds, but the day off was apparently all he needed to overcome the illness. The 28-year-old is off to a solid start to the spring with a .343/.377/.457 slash line across 16 Cactus League games. He's expected to remain in the two hole once the regular season gets underway next week.... See More ... See Less -
White Sox's Yoan Moncada: Scratched from lineup
Moncada was a late scratch from the White Sox's Cactus League lineup Wednesday against the Reds due to illness, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports. He should be ready to return to action in a day or two. Mike Moustakas replaced Moncada at third base Wednesday.... See More ... See Less -
White Sox's Yoan Moncada: Will bat second this season
White Sox manager Pedro Grifol said earlier this month that Moncada will serve as the team's No. 2 hitter this season, Vinnie Duber of AllCHGO.com reports. Moncada mostly hit fourth or fifth during his injury-shortened 2023 season but will slide up to the No. 2 spot to start the 2024 campaign. He'll be preceded by Andrew Benintendi and likely followed by Luis Robert, Eloy Jimenez and Andrew Vaughn. Moncada has battled through chronic back and leg problems the past two seasons but is fully healthy this spring and has slashed .348/.464/.435 during Cactus League play.... See More ... See Less -
White Sox's Yoan Moncada: Feels healthy ahead of spring
Moncada said Thursday that he's feeling healthy after being plagued by chronic back and leg issues the previous two seasons, Bruce Levine of 670TheScore.com reports. Moncada told reporters he's been focused this offseason on improving his core strength after he was limited to just 104 games in 2022 and 92 games in 2023. The 28-year-old has slashed just .234/.288/.386 over that span, and it has seemed like he's never been totally healthy. Moncada will report to spring training early this year ahead of what he hopes will be a bounce-back 2024 campaign. The White Sox hold a $25 million option on him for 2025, so it could be a walk year for the third baseman.... See More ... See Less -
White Sox's Yoan Moncada: Playing multiple positions possible
White Sox general manager Chris Getz on Tuesday wouldn't rule out Moncada playing multiple positions in 2024, Vinnie Duber of AllCHGO.com reports. "I think he is capable of playing different positions," Getz said of Moncada. "He's played some second base with us. I think he's a better third baseman than second baseman. That doesn't mean there aren't going to be some days where perhaps he goes over to second base or plays first base and perhaps even the outfield. We'll do what's best for our club." Duber cautions that "the expectation is still that Moncada will be the White Sox's everyday third baseman in 2024." However, it it sounds like he could bounce around a bit if the situation calls for it. Moncada has been used exclusively at third base since 2019.... See More ... See Less -
White Sox's Yoan Moncada: Sitting Sunday
Moncada is not in Sunday's lineup against the Padres. He will open the final game of the season on the bench, with Lenyn Sosa getting the nod at the hot corner. Moncada played in only 92 games this year due mostly to a major back injury, but he finished extremely strong, slashing .316/.358/.553 with eight home runs over his final 42 games.... See More ... White Sox's Yoan Moncada: Mashes solo homer
Moncada went 1-for-2 with a solo homer and a second run scored in Thursday's 3-1 victory over the Diamondbacks. Moncada drew a leadoff walk in his first plate appearance before coming around to score on an Andrew Vaughn home run that put the White Sox up 2-0. The third baseman would then add an insurance run with a leadoff shot to open the bottom of the fourth, giving him five long balls this month to go along with 11 RBI. Moncada's hit safely in six of his last eight games, though he's also struck out at least one time in 12 straight.... See More ... See Less -
White Sox's Yoan Moncada: On bench Wednesday
Moncada is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Diamondbacks. Moncada is receiving his second day off in a three-game stretch. He went 1-for-4 in his last start Tuesday. Prior to that, he had a five-game stretch in which he had a .786 OPS. With the 28-year-old on the bench, Lenyn Sosa gets the start at third base.... See More ... See Less -
White Sox's Yoan Moncada: Not starting Sunday
Moncada is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Red Sox. Moncada started the past five games and will receive a day off after he posted a .786 OPS and 42.9 percent strikeout rate in that stretch. Lenyn Sosa will handle the hot corner and bat seventh for Sunday's series finale in Boston.... See More ... See Less -
White Sox's Yoan Moncada: Homers Tuesday
Moncada went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and an additional RBI in Tuesday's loss to the Nationals. Moncada put the White Sox ahead 2-1 in the seventh inning with a 412-foot blast off Jackson Rutledge, his ninth homer of the season. The 28-year-old third baseman has put together a strong second half, batting .331 (42-for-127) with six homers and a .925 OPS in his last 35 games. Overall, Moncada's slashing .262/.304/.417 with 38 RBI and 35 runs scored across 329 plate appearances this season.... See More ... See Less -
White Sox's Yoan Moncada: Out of lineup
Moncada is out of the lineup Sunday versus the Twins. Moncada had appeared in six straight games after not starting Sept. 10 due to aggravating his knee in the prior game. In the six-game span, the third baseman is 5-for-23. Zach Remillard will take his place in the lineup Sunday.... See More ... See Less -
White Sox's Yoan Moncada: Will return Monday
Moncada (knee) is in the lineup for Monday's game against the Royals. Moncada aggravated a knee injury Saturday and was held out Sunday, but that was apparently all he needed to put the issue behind him. He will man the hot corner and hit fifth Monday night.... See More ... See Less -
White Sox's Yoan Moncada: Out with sore knee
Moncada (knee) is not in the lineup Sunday at Detroit. Moncada made an early exit from Saturday's loss to the Tigers because of right knee discomfort, and it remains unclear how much time he might miss. Elvis Andrus is playing third base for the White Sox on Sunday.... See More ... See Less
