Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Monday that Bellinger is continuing to receive treatment for his sore back, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports. Bellinger's back first tightened up on him in early April, forcing him to miss a couple games at the time. Boone said the outfielder is "doing well," but the manager wants to "pick some spots" to rest Bellinger, who is not in Monday's lineup versus the Royals. The hot-hitting Trent Grisham is handling center field Monday.... See More ... See Less

Yankees' Cody Bellinger: Sitting out versus righty
Bellinger is not in the lineup for Monday's contest against the Royals. Bellinger had started each of the previous four games after recovering from food poisoning, but he'll take a seat Monday even as the Royals send righty Seth Lugo to the hill. Trent Grisham will play center field and bat eighth in the series opener.... See More ... See Less -
Yankees' Cody Bellinger: Moves past illness, back in lineup
Bellinger (illness) will start in center field and bat third in Wednesday's game against the Tigers. The Yankees scratched Bellinger from the lineup Tuesday due to a suspected case of food poisoning, but he showed improvement throughout the day, prompting manager Aaron Boone to say after the team's 5-0 loss that Bellinger was available off the bench. With Bellinger's conditioning not taking a turn for the worse overnight, he'll be given the green light to play in the series finale in Detroit. Trent Grisham will head back to the bench after covering center field for Bellinger on Tuesday.... See More ... See Less -

Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Bellinger (illness) was feeling progressively better Tuesday and was available off the bench in the team's loss to the Tigers, Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports. Bellinger didn't wind up playing as he recovers from food poisoning. However, it sounds like he's got a shot to be back in the lineup for Wednesday's series finale.... See More ... See Less -
Yankees' Cody Bellinger: Dealing with food poisoning
Yankees manager Aaron Boone said that Bellinger is out of the lineup Tuesday due to food poisoning, Max Goodman of NJ.com reports. Bellinger was was "throwing up all night," per Boone, so Trent Grisham is getting another start in the Yankees' outfield against the Tigers. While he could be ready to play as soon as Wednesday, it wouldn't be a surprise if Bellinger is held out until Friday following the team's off day Thursday.... See More ... See Less -
Yankees' Cody Bellinger: Not in Tuesday's lineup
Bellinger is absent from Tuesday's lineup in Detroit. Bellinger has dealt with a stiff back recently, and while there's no indication he's had a setback, lefty ace Tarik Skubal being on the bump for the Tigers offers an opportunity to give Bellinger a little more rest. Jasson Dominguez, Trent Grisham and Aaron Judge will patrol the outfield for the Yankees.... See More ... See Less -
Yankees' Cody Bellinger: Starting in right field Sunday
Bellinger (back) will start in right field and bat second in Sunday's game against the Pirates. A bout with back stiffness kept Bellinger out of the lineup for the previous two games, but he'll be ready to go for the series finale. Bellinger will slide over to right field and open up a spot in center for Trent Grisham, who will be rewarded with another start after slugging two home runs in Saturday's 10-4 win.... See More ... Yankees' Cody Bellinger: Sitting Saturday
Bellinger (back) isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game versus Pittsburgh. Back stiffness prevented Bellinger from playing in Friday's contest, and his absence will officially continue into Saturday. Manager Aaron Boone suggested the 29-year-old outfielder could have been available off the bench Friday, which suggests Bellinger isn't too far away from returning to the starting nine. Until then, Trent Grisham will continue to start in center field.... See More ... See Less -

Yankees' Cody Bellinger: Pegged for center field
Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Tuesday in an interview on WFAN Sports Radio that he plans to play Bellinger in center field and Jasson Dominguez in left field this season. The team didn't want to commit to a position for Bellinger when it traded for him last month, but the Yankees have since signed Paul Goldschmidt and have opted to keep Dominguez in left field. Boone did add that he expects Bellinger to move around to other positions at times on days when others fill the designated-hitter spot.... See More ... See Less -
Yankees' Cody Bellinger: Position not yet determined
Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Wednesday that it has yet to be determined which position Bellinger will play in 2025, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports. It was reported Tuesday when the Bellinger trade went down that the 29-year-old had been told he would be the Yankees' center fielder, but that report was inaccurate. While Bellinger might very well wind up in center field, Boone noted that first base and left field remain possibilities, as well. Where Bellinger ultimately settles in on the diamond will depend largely on what other additions the Yankees make this offseason.... See More ... See Less -
Yankees' Cody Bellinger: Traded to Yankees
The Yankees acquired Bellinger and cash considerations from the Cubs on Tuesday in exchange for Cody Poteet, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports. The long-rumored deal has finally come to fruition, with the Cubs agreeing to send $5 million to the Yankees to cover part of Bellinger's salary. Bellinger has been told he will play center field, which means Aaron Judge will shift back to right field and Jasson Dominguez will remain in left. Bellinger had an uninspiring .751 OPS with 18 home runs in 2024, but as a left-handed flyball hitter with heavy pull tendencies, he could take advantage of the short porch in right field at Yankee Stadium....
