The Rangers designated Rodriguez for assignment Wednesday.
Rodriguez was the odd man out after the Rangers needed to free up a spot on their 40-man roster. He turned in a 6.88 ERA and 1.59 WHIP over 17 innings during his time in the majors this season and stands a good chance of clearing waivers.
