  • Raiders' Anthony Brown: Lands with Las Vegas

The Raiders signed Brown to a reserve/future contract Monday.

Brown joined the Ravens' practice squad Aug. 30 after losing out on the No. 3 quarterback spot to Josh Johnson during training camp. Brown was let go by the team Sept. 4 and did not manage to join a team during the 2023 season. Now on a reserve/future deal with the Raiders, Brown will have a chance to compete for a roster spot over the summer.

  • Anthony Brown: Done with Ravens

Baltimore cut Brown from its practice squad Monday.

In a corresponding move, cornerback Tae Hayes was signed to the practice squad. After being forced into two games for the Ravens in 2022, Brown will now have to look for another opportunity elsewhere.

  • Anthony Brown: Let go by Baltimore

Brown was waived by the Ravens on Tuesday.

Brown and Josh Johnson had been competing for Baltimore's No. 3 quarterback job throughout the preseason, and it looked like the battle could take on extra significance with Tyler Huntley suffering a hamstring injury late in camp. However, Huntley's injury isn't expected to impact his availability for the regular-season opener, so both Brown and Johnson were let go Tuesday. Brown struggled in exhibition play, completing just 21 of 39 pass attempts for 218 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions.

  • Anthony Brown: Returns to Baltimore

Brown is signing with the Ravens' practice squad Wednesday, Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic reports.

Brown was waived by Baltimore on Tuesday after losing a battle to serve as a backup quarterback. However, the Oregon product will be in the mix to join the active roster if the Ravens need additional depth under center at some point in 2023.

  • Ravens' Anthony Brown: Should play Sunday in some capacity

Brown is expected to be part of a timeshare at quarterback in Sunday's wild-card game against the Bengals along with Tyler Huntley (shoulder/wrist), who is listed as questionable but is expected to play, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

The Ravens haven't formally named a starter for their playoff opener, but Rapoport suggests that designation might not matter much, as head coach John Harbaugh is expected to use packages of plays throughout the game that cater to both quarterbacks' strengths. When healthy, Huntley has been filling in as the starter for the injured Lamar Jackson (knee), but Brown picked up his first NFL start in the Week 18 loss to Cincinnati while Huntley was out with shoulder tendinitis. Though Huntley put in a full practice Friday and looks set to play, the Ravens apparently aren't convinced that he's ready to handle the entire playbook since the shoulder issue has limited his throwing activity in recent days. The extent to which Brown may be used is difficult to pin down, but the timeshare arrangement nonetheless figures to limit the upside of both quarterbacks in DFS.
