Texans' Tytus Howard: Clears cap space with restructure
Howard (knee) restructured his contract with the Texans on Friday to clear $10.3 million in salary cap space, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Howard's restructure involves converting the majority of his $14 million base salary into a $12.9 million signing bonus. The starting right tackle is recovering from knee surgery to address patellar tendon issues, which he underwent in November. It's not yet clear whether he'll be ready for training camp.

Howard is expected to miss the remainder of the season after undergoing further testing on his injured knee Monday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Howard was carted off the field during Sunday's loss to the Jaguars. Despite optimism that the injury may not be severe, the 2019 first-round selection will ultimately need surgery to repair his left knee, but specifics of the injury are not yet known. The loss is a serious blow to a Texans' offensive line that has dealt with numerous injuries this season.

Texans' Tytus Howard: Will get imaging scans Monday
Howard is set to get scans on his injured left knee Monday morning, and there is "some hope" that he has avoided a severe injury, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Howard had to be carted to the locker room after hurting his knee late in the first quarter Sunday against Jacksonville, and he wasn't able to return to the game. While a significant injury remains a possibility, there is at least some optimism that the issue is less serious than initially feared. More should be known about Howard's status moving forward following the results of Monday's imaging scans.
