Vikings' Harrison Phillips: Another solid year on the interior
Phillips tallied 92 tackles (44 solo), 3.0 sacks and two passes defended during his 2023 season.
Phillips continued to shine in his second season in Minnesota, expanding on his increased role upon his arrival from Buffalo in 2022. His 92 total tackles were a career high, by a significant margin, besting his 59 from 2022. His 3.0 sacks also outdid his previous high of 1.5 from last season. The 27-year-old is under contract for one more year and should return to his role as the team's primary nose tackle in the next campaign.

Vikings' Harrison Phillips: Returns to full practice Thursday
Phillips (back) practiced in full Thursday.
Phillips was estimated as a limited participant in Wednesday's practice walkthrough, but his ability to log a full session Thursday suggests that he should be able to suit up Sunday versus Green Bay. The veteran nose tackle has yet to miss a game over his two campaigns with the Vikings and has played at least 60 percent of the team's defensive snaps in each contest this season. Phillips has already tallied a career-best 82 tackles (41 solo) and 3.0 sacks in 2023.

Phillips (back) was estimated as a limited participant during Wednesday's practice walk-through.
Phillips logged a DNP/DNP/LP progression during practice last week but was nonetheless able to suit up and tally his usual snap count Sunday versus Detroit. The nose tackle thus appears to have a good chance of suiting up this coming Sunday against the Packers, though his practice level over the final two days of Week 17 prep bears monitoring. Phillips has posted 82 tackles, including 3.0 sacks, through 15 games this season, both of which represent a career-high mark.

Phillips is Minnesota's starting nose tackle in the 3-4 defense and coming off a career season. Phillips was rather productive in his first season with the Vikings, as he achieved career highs in tackles, sacks and defensive snaps for the second year in a row. With the departure of Dalvin Tomlinson, Phillips looks to have an even more prominent role on the defensive interior. He played on 60 of the defense's 68 snaps.

Phillips was rather productive in his first season with the Vikings, as he achieved career highs in tackles, sacks and defensive snaps for the second year in a row. He also eclipsed his previous career high for tackles 14 games into the 2022 season. The 27-year-old paced Minnesota's defensive line in playing time while slotting in alongside fellow veteran Dalvin Tomlinson. With Tomlinson now set to become a free agent this offseason, Phillips could be in line for an even more prominent role on the defensive interior in 2023.
