West Virginia vs. Iowa State updates: Live NCAA Football game scores, results for Saturday
Live scores, highlights and updates from the West Virginia vs. Iowa State football game
The West Virginia Mountaineers haven't won a matchup against the Iowa State Cyclones since Nov. 4 of 2017, but they'll be looking to end the drought on Saturday. The Mountaineers and Iowa State will face off in a Big 12 battle at 2 p.m. ET at Mountaineer Field at Milan Puskar Stadium. These two teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous games.
After constant struggles on the road, West Virginia has finally found some success away from home. They beat the TCU Horned Frogs 29-17 last week. The team ran away with 20 points in the first half and mostly just sat on those in the second to pick up the win. West Virginia's RB Leddie Brown was one of the most active players for the squad, rushing for three TDs and 111 yards on 24 carries. Brown had some trouble finding his footing against the Baylor Bears three weeks ago, so this was a step in the right direction. Brown's sharp performance set his single-game rushing touchdown high for the season.
Special teams collected 11 points for the Mountaineers. K Casey Legg delivered a perfect 3-for-3 game.
Meanwhile, it was a close one, but last week Iowa State sidestepped the Oklahoma State Cowboys for a 24-21 victory. WR Xavier Hutchinson was the offensive standout of the contest for Iowa State, catching 12 passes for two TDs and 125 yards.
West Virginia is expected to lose this next one by 7. However, those who like betting on the underdog should be happy to hear that they are 2-0 against the spread when expected to lose.
The wins brought the Mountaineers up to 3-4 and the Cyclones to 5-2. West Virginia is 1-1 after wins this season, Iowa State 2-2.
