Syracuse has suspended kicker Ryan Norton for this weekend's game against Wake Forest after he was arrested last weekend.
According to The Post-Standard Norton was arrested last Friday morning and charged with resisting arrest and underage possession of alcohol.
"Ryan Norton has been suspended for Syracuse's game against Wake Forest due to a violation of team rules," said Syracuse coach Scott Shafer in a statement. "He will return for the following game."
According to court documents Norton was approached by police after he was spotted with an open can of beer. Norton told the police "I'm not going anywhere," but it turns out he didn't mean that. After he was informed that he was going to be arrested Nortan ran from the police.
The court documents also say that Norton allegedly pushed police officers while running and refused to go to the ground after being commanded to do so. Then, once he was tackled by the officers he refused to roll onto his stomach or put his hands behind his back.
Norton also said "stop, I'm sorry" to the police but continued to refuse their commands.
Norton became Syracuse's starting kicker during the third game of the season after Ross Krautman was lost for the season due to a hip injury. He's made one of his two field goal attempts since taking over the job.
With no other kicker on the roster, punter Riley Dixon will have to handle kicking duties in this week's game.
