Rice vs. Middle Tenn. updates: Live NCAAF game scores, results for Saturday
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Rice vs. Middle Tenn. football game
Game Recap
The Rice Owls fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against the Middle Tenn. Blue Raiders on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result, falling 40-34. Rice was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Middle Tenn. apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played, back in November of last year.
The Blue Raiders' QB Asher O'Hara did his thing and passed for two TDs and 333 yards on 33 attempts in addition to rushing for two TDs and 69 yards. The squad found extra help from defensive menace S Gregory Grate Jr. and his 12 tackles.
Rice's loss came about despite a quality game from QB Mike Collins, who passed for four TDs and 242 yards on 35 attempts.
The loss dropped the Owls' record to 0-1. Middle Tenn.'s victory brought them up to 2-5.
Rice will take on the Southern Miss Golden Eagles at 3 p.m. ET next Saturday at Carlisle-Faulkner Field at M.M. Roberts Stadium. Rice will have the chance to boost their scoring average against a Southern Miss defense that has allowed 43 points per game on average. The Blue Raiders will have some time to rest before their next contest, which is against the Charlotte 49ers at 3:30 p.m. ET in two weeks at Johnny (Red) Floyd Stadium. Middle Tenn. will be hoping to continue their now three-game streak of scoring more points each game than the last.
