For the first time since 1967, Ohio State will visit Oregon in a battle of two of the top three ranked teams in the nation. No. 2 Ohio State (5-0, 2-0) romped Iowa, 35-7, in its last game and has won 45 straight games versus conference opponents other than Michigan. No. 3 Oregon (5-0, 2-0) easily dispatched of Michigan State, 31-10, last Friday, and the Ducks have won 18 straight games versus conference opponents other than Washington. Oregon is just 1-9 all-time versus the Buckeyes, but that one victory came in their last meeting in 2021.

Why Ohio State can cover

The Buckeyes are giving up just 6.8 points per game on defense this season, the fewest in college football. Ohio State has held the opposition to seven points or less in four of its first five games, including last week's 35-7 win over Iowa. The Buckeyes held the Hawkeyes to just 110 yards passing in the victory.

Offensively, Ohio State is scoring 46.0 points per game, fourth-best in the nation. The Buckeyes are extremely effective on the ground, averaging 222.2 rushing yards per game. Quarterback Will Howard has also been playing well in his first season in the Big Ten. Howard completed 21 of 25 passes for 209 yards and four touchdowns against Iowa last week. For the season, Howard has completed 71.5% of his passes for 1,248 yards, 12 touchdowns and three interceptions. See which team to pick here

Why Oregon can cover

The most recent round of conference realignment has spread the Big Ten across the country, and the impact on travel has been noticeable as OSU will travel multiple time zones to visit Oregon. Big Ten teams playing opponents at least two time zones away are a combined 1-8 in conference games this season. The Buckeyes will also have to contend with an unfavorable recent history as a favorite versus a top-five ranked opponent. Over Ohio State's last eight games when favored versus an AP top-five team, the Buckeyes are only 1-7 against the spread.

The Ducks have kept four of their five opponents to 14 points or fewer, and OU has won 99 straight games when limiting opponents to no more than 14 points. That could be troublesome for Ohio State, which has seen its point total drop in every game since Week 2. As for the Ducks offense, quarterback Dillon Gabriel leads all of FBS with a 77.8 completion percentage and he's complemented in the backfield by running back Jordan James. The junior back has 288 scrimmage yards and two touchdowns over his first two Big Ten games. See which team to pick here
