Georgia has seen a flurry of transfer portal activity since winning the College Football Playoff National Championship, and now two former five-star offensive linemen added their names to the growing list of Bulldogs entertaining an exit from the program.  Both Amarius Mims and Clay Webb have entered the transfer portal, Dawgs 247 confirmed on Sunday. In doing so, they become the second and third Bulldogs offensive linemen to enter the transfer portal this spring and brings the total number of Georgia players looking toward greener pastures this offseason to 11.

A 6-foot-7, 330-pound lineman out of Cochran, Georgia, Mims was a top-10 player in the 2021 cycle, according to the 247Sports Composite, and rated as the best prospect in a Georgia recruiting class that finished No. 4 in the country. He enrolled early in January 2021 and appeared in eight games during his freshman season. With the starter's reps at tackle held down by Broderick Jones and Warren McClendon, though, it was going to be difficult to crack the starting lineup at that position in 2022. Mims chose Georgia over Alabama, Auburn, Florida and others coming out high school, and quickly becomes one of the top offensive line prospects in the transfer portal.

Webb was a huge recruiting win for Georgia when the Oxford, Alabama, native chose the Bulldogs over Alabama, Auburn and others in the 2019 recruiting cycle. He rated as the No. 1 center in the class, according to the 247Sports Composite, and the No. 2 overall prospect in the state of Alabama. Webb played in a two games as a freshman in 2019 and three more as a sophomore in 2020 but did not appear in a game for Georgia in 2021.

The timing of these announcements is significant because they come just as Georgia's spring practice is reaching its conclusion and ahead of the deadline to transfer and retain eligibility this fall. If Mims and Webb believe they have better opportunities elsewhere based on what's happened in spring practice, they must make that decision prior to May 2 in order to be eligible at their new school for the 2022 season.
