FIU vs. UTEP updates: Live NCAA Football game scores, results for Wednesday
Live scores, highlights and updates from the FIU vs. UTEP football game
UTEP has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the FIU Panthers at 7:30 p.m. ET on Wednesday at Riccardo Silva Stadium. UTEP is limping into the contest on a four-game losing streak.
Two Fridays ago, UTEP lost to Louisiana Tech at home by a decisive 24-10 margin.
Meanwhile, FIU's game on Wednesday was all tied up 14-14 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. The matchup between FIU and New Mexico State wasn't a total blowout, but with FIU falling 34-17 on the road it was darn close to turning into one. That means FIU has now suffered back-to-back defeats.
Nobody from FIU had a standout game, but they still got scores from Keyone Jenkins and Shomari Lawrence.
The losses dropped UTEP to 1-5 and FIU to 3-3.
Not only did both teams lose their last games, but neither team managed to cover the spread. Looking ahead, UTEP is the favorite in this one, as the experts expect to see them win by a single point. This contest will be FIU's fifth straight as the underdogs (so far over this stretch they are 2-2 against the spread).
Everything came up roses for UTEP against FIU when the teams last played last November as the team secured a 40-6 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for UTEP since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
