Duke vs. Virginia Tech: Live updates, score, results, highlights, for Saturday's NCAAF game
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Duke vs. Virginia Tech football game
Game Recap
The Virginia Tech Hokies lost to the Duke Blue Devils when the two teams previously met in September of last year, but they didn't allow Duke the same satisfaction this time around. The Hokies walked away with a 38-31 victory Saturday.
Virginia Tech's RB Khalil Herbert was on fire, rushing for one TD and 207 yards on 19 carries. Herbert's longest run was for 60 yards in the fourth quarter. Another playmaker for Virginia Tech was WR Tayvion Robinson, who returned a punt -17 yards to the end zone in the first quarter.
RB Deon Jackson hadn't helped Duke's cause all that much against the Virginia Cavaliers last week, but the same can't be said for this matchup. The losing side was boosted by Jackson, who punched in two rushing touchdowns. That's the most rushing touchdowns Jackson has had all year.
The win improved Virginia Tech's record to 1-0. The Blue Devils' loss pushed them down to 0-3.
The Hokies are on the road again next week and play against the North Carolina Tar Heels at noon ET Oct. 10 at Kenan Memorial Stadium. If the game is anything like Virginia Tech's 43-41 victory from their previous meeting October of last year, the scorekeeper will be kept real busy. As for Duke, they will face off against the Syracuse Orange at 12:30 p.m. ET next week at Carrier Dome.
