Early-season control of the ACC Atlantic Division will be at stake when the 10th-ranked North Carolina State Wolfpack battle the fifth-ranked Clemson Tigers on Saturday. Why Clemson can cover

Junior quarterback DJ Uiagalelei, who is looking to improve to 16-4 as a starter, will be attempting to throw for 300 yards in consecutive games for the second time in his career. Last week, he completed 26 of 41 passes (63.4%) for 371 yards and five touchdowns against Wake Forest. He has nine touchdown passes over the past three weeks. For the year, Uiagalelei has thrown for 1,033 yards and 10 touchdowns against one interception.

Defensively, the Tigers are led by junior linebacker Trenton Simpson. Simpson leads Clemson with 27 tackles, including 17 solo. He has at least eight tackles in three different games, and has one pass breakup and one forced fumble. For his career, he has 120 tackles, including 75 solo, with three pass breakups, 10 sacks and two forced fumbles.

Why North Carolina State can cover

Redshirt junior quarterback Devin Leary has been a big part of the Wolfpack's success. Over the past two seasons, he has posted a 16-3 record as N.C. State's starting quarterback. In 24 starts in his career, he has thrown 60 touchdowns, tied for fourth-best in school history and just three away from entering the top three on the list. Last season, Leary threw a school-record 35 touchdowns, including a league-leading 27 against ACC opponents.

Defensively, the Wolfpack have done a good job of taking away the football. North Carolina State recorded at least two interceptions in each of the first three games of the season. No N.C. State team had accomplished a streak of three consecutive games with two or more interceptions since the final three games of the 2011 season. The Wolfpack's seven interceptions in the first three games this year tied as the fourth-most all-time in school history. The top three for interceptions were in 1998 (10), 1991 (10) and 1960 (eight).
