West Virginia QB Geno Smith won his second award of the week on Wednesday when he was named the Davey O'Brien Quarterback of the Week. Smith was also named the Big 12 offensive player of the week on Tuesday.

Smith's Week 1 performance has garnered a lot of attention and made sure his name is in the Heisman conversation -- it's never too early to talk the Heisman, right? His numbers were eye-opening, as he completed 32 of 36 passes for 323 yards and four touchdowns in West Virginia's 69-34 win against Marshall. He also ran for 65 yards and a touchdown.

  • No one in the Oklahoma media knew his name a few weeks ago. After scoring a touchdown in his first game as a Sooner, TE Brannon Green is getting noticed, Jason Kersey of The Oklahoman writes.
