Army West Point vs. Abilene Christian updates: Live NCAAF game scores, results for Saturday
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Army West Point vs. Abilene Christian football game
Game Recap
RB Anthony Adkins had a quiet outing against the Cincinnati Bearcats last week, but he sure didn't disappoint Saturday. QB Jemel Jones passed for one TD and 52 yards on seven attempts in addition to rushing for two TDs and 138 yards as the Army West Point Black Knights beat the Abilene Christian Wildcats 55-23. Adkins finished with two rushing touchdowns, the most he has had all season.
In addition to Jones, the Black Knights got help from RB Tyrell Robinson, who picked up 126 yards on the ground on seven carries. That nimble footwork stands out as the first time Robinson has hit the 100-yard rushing mark this season.
Despite their loss, Abilene Christian got to see several of their players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. WR Lionell McConnell, who caught 11 passes for 94 yards, was the best among equals. McConnell's longest run was for 55 yards in the second quarter. WR Kobe Clark was in the mix, too, providing the Wildcats with two touchdowns.
The victory bumped the Black Knights' record up to 2-1. The defeat dropped Abilene Christian's record to 0-1.
Army West Point has the luxury of staying at home another week and will welcome the Citadel Bulldogs at 1:30 p.m. ET Oct. 10 at Blaik Field at Michie Stadium. Citadel is still on the hunt for that elusive first W. Abilene Christian will have some time to rest before their next contest, which is against the West Texas A&M Buffaloes at 7 p.m. ET in two weeks at Anthony Field at Wildcat Stadium.
