News and notes from around the ACC:

  • Dabo Swinney has changed the culture at Clemson, Dan Wetzel of Yahoo! Sports wrote. Swinney refuses to take a backseat to anyone, especially on the recruiting trail. When he first arrived in 2003, that was not the case. "For whatever reason, I think Clemson lost their way, lost their swag if you will," Swinney said. "And really kind of lost their commitment."
  • Georgia Tech WR Jeremy Moore has left the team, Ken Sugiura of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported. “He had some personal reasons, said that he’s struggled with it before,” coach Paul Johnson said. “It’s not the first time he’s thought about it. I just wished him well.” Moore had three catches for 64 yards in the team's first three games.
  • Virginia Tech's defensive coaches are pretty upset about the unit's performance against Pittsburgh last week, Andy Bitter of The Roanoke Times reported. Defensive line coach Charley Wiles saw it coming during pregame warmups. "I was like, 'Hey, we're getting ready to get our butt beat,'" Wiles said. "'We've got a one-time shot to play. There ain't no do-overs.' And then, boom. We got beat."
  • Maryland will face No. 8 West Virginia's "Air-Raid Offense" on Saturday. It will be the toughest test of the season for the Terrapins defense, but it will also be the stiffest competition the Mountaineers have faced. "They’re a big, physical defense," West Virginia offensive coordinator Shannon Dawson told Alex Prewitt of the Washington Post. "Defensively, they’re going to be the biggest, most physical defense we’ve faced so far, by far."
