The college basketball transfer portal continues is open and Kentucky basketball has been at the forefront since last offseason. Head coach Mark Pope built virtually the entire Kentucky basketball roster from the portal last year after taking the job when John Calipari left for Arkansas. Pope is using the portal to revamp the Kentucky basketball lineup this offseason after six key players exhausted their eligibility. The portal is open for new entries until April 22, while players at schools with a coaching change can enter freely for 30 days.

Pope led the Wildcats to their first Sweet 16 appearance since 2019, despite being left with an empty cupboard when he took the job. The Kentucky basketball coaching staff will now try to build a roster that can make the Final Four for the first time since 2015. Kentucky basketball roster news

Pope has only lost one outgoing transfer thus far, as guard Kerr Kriisa left for Cincinnati after playing just nine games for Kentucky due to injury last season. The portal window opens both ways, and Pope has earned commitments from Tulane wing Kam Williams and Pittsburgh point guard Jaland Lowe. Williams committed just hours before Kentucky's season ended with a loss to Tennessee in the Sweet 16, while Lowe committed on Saturday morning.

The Wildcats' biggest need from the portal is now in the frontcourt, and Robert Morris forward Alvaro Folgueiras is one player they are reportedly targeting. The native of Spain led Robert Morris to a Horizon League Tournament title and an NCAA Tournament bid during his sophomore season, averaging 14.1 points, 9.1 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game. He was named the Horizon League Player of the Year after finishing with 13 double-doubles, and Kentucky could certainly use his services next season. Get the latest Kentucky basketball roster news at CatsPause.
