The Loyola Chicago Ramblers men's basketball had their first season in 1914, five years before Sister Jean, born Dolores Bertha Schmidt, was born. Sister Jean, perhaps men's college basketball's most famous fan, has been alive for nearly every one of their 108 seasons. Not many Ramblers fans can say that.

The 102-year-old superfan is traveling with the team to kick off the NCAA Tournament. She will be alongside Loyola Chicago when they take on the Ohio State Buckeyes at PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh, the school's associate athletics director for communications Bill Behrns confirmed.

She left with the team for Pittsburgh on Wednesday. 

Sister Jean entered the national spotlight in 2018 during the Rambler's NCAA Tournament cinderella journey to the Final Four. Her presence at games did not go unnoticed, as she became a household name for her connection with the team.

Sister Jean gives advice to the players, sent coach Porter Moser scouting reports ahead of each game and is the team's captain.  Last year, she went with the Ramblers to Indianapolis and was alongside them as they made it to the Sweet 16 following an upset over top-seeded Illinois. 

Loyola Chicago earned their automatic bid in the tournament with a 64–58 win over Drake in the Missouri Valley championship earlier in March. 

They will face Ohio State on Friday at 12:15 p.m. and Sister Jean is confident in her team this year. She has Loyola making it to the Elite Eight this year, but is focused right now on the next game up.
