Seven-time NBA All-Star Joe Johnson has won the BIG3 MVP each of the past two seasons, but it's a much less-heralded player who's the frontrunner this year. That is Kevin Murphy, who logged just 17 career NBA games, but is the best player on the best team in the 2022 BIG3 season as he leads the 3 Headed Monsters (6-1). Murphy also tops the league in scoring entering the Week 8 BIG3 schedule, as Johnson did during his two MVP years. Murphy will look to add to his candidacy when his 3 Headed Monsters take on Tri-State (3-4) in the final week of the regular season. You can stream Saturday's action on Paramount+.

That is one of three games on tap for Saturday as six teams are in action, but only four of them will advance to the 2022 BIG3 playoffs. Also taking place is Power (4-3) facing the Aliens (4-2), as well as Trilogy (5-2) meeting up with the Killer 3's (5-2). The Comerica Center in Frisco, Texas, will host the finale with play tipping off at 1 p.m. ET.  You can watch on CBS and stream Saturday's action on Paramount+.

BIG3 predictions, picks for Saturday, August 6

Before tuning into Saturday's BIG3 action, you need to see the BIG3 basketball picks from SportsLine expert Ameer Tyree. He joined SportsLine after working as an NBA Fantasy sports and betting specialist at DraftKings and has a history of profitable basketball plays that help bettors find edges.

For Saturday's BIG3 action, Tyree is backing the 3 Headed Monsters to get a big win over Tri-State in the final game of the day. Murphy has been the most dominant scorer in the league thus far with 157 points in the first seven games. That's 28 more than any other player in the league and the former Tennessee Tech star and last year's BIG3 Rookie of the Year is going to force Tri-State to play at a pace it likely can't sustain.

"Tri-State has hit a rough patch and will face the Big3's top scorer on Saturday," Tyree told SportsLine. "No team has scored more than the 3 Headed Monsters, while Tri-State has a middle-of-the-road offense. Murphy's team has only lost a game, and I don't expect them to lose a second against a team that's struggling." Stream the game on Paramount+.
