What is the best golf betting site?
If you’re looking to bet on the biggest golf tournaments along the PGA Tour, there are plenty of options among golf betting sites. Each of these sites has been reviewed, with special attention paid to a variety of key components that make up a top sportsbook to bet on golf.
After reviewing all of the relevant sportsbooks, we believe that the best golf betting site is FanDuel Sportsbook. FanDuel has always been a leader in its field in anything the company has ventured into, and online sports betting is its primary focus. This is apparent from its outstanding golf markets and promos.
FanDuel Sportsbook
According to Forbes, FanDuel is the most popular sportsbook in the U.S. in terms of market share, and it’s easy to see why.
- Elite user experience
- Tournament-specific bets and props
- Competitive golf odds
FanDuel has some of the best futures odds for major PGA events in the industry. For example, you might be able to bet a golfer to win an event at +1000 odds at a given sportsbook, but at FanDuel, you may see better odds. This can help you win bigger when you do hit your longshot wagers and lose less when you fail to hit.
FanDuel also presents excellent welcome bonuses and golf-specific promos to take advantage of. You can find profit boosts and odds boosts for your favorite golfer if a major PGA event is on the horizon.
Other golf betting sites we recommend
Outside of FanDuel Sportsbook, there are plenty of other golf betting sites to choose from that we reviewed and enjoyed. FanDuel is our favorite option, but we can recommend these other golf betting sites to add to your odds shopping rotation.
Caesars Sportsbook
Caesars is one of the most noteworthy gambling companies in the world, and its Caesars Sportsbook product ranks among our best golf betting sites. While we think Caesars Sportsbook has a desktop site that can be improved, its mobile app ranks among our favorites.
- Golf-specific profit boosts
- Easy-to-use app
- Admirable welcome bonuses
Our favorite golf betting feature on Caesars Sportsbook is its “Quick Picks.” These are built-in odds boosts for a variety of markets, and when a major golf tournament is in progress, you can routinely find these in the odds section. These can be premade parlays with standard odds or can be boosted to entice you to bet them.
You can also find a variety of excellent promos as an existing customer at Caesars Sportsbook, on top of valuable sign-up offers like bet insurance and profit boosts. However, Caesars Sportsbook has typically offered welcome bonuses that are tough to extract full value on due to harsh wagering requirements.
Fanatics Sportsbook
Fanatics Sportsbook is another one of our favorite online sports betting sites for golf. Fanatics is one of the most prominent distributors of officially licensed sports merchandise and, as a result, is a well-known brand. Despite being relatively new to the market, Fanatics Sportsbook has quickly become one of the best golf sports betting sites.
- Reputable brand name
- Fast-rising in industry
- Excellent welcome and ongoing promos
Although there is a large amount of competition in online sports betting, Fanatics Sportsbook stands out from the competition due to FanCash. With Fanatics Sportsbook, you can earn up to 5% back on golf wagers in FanCash, which can be used to purchase merchandise, including golf gear.
Fanatics’ welcome bonus reflects its innovative nature as a sportsbook. The site is always trying out new promotional structures, but it is likely that if you register, you will be able to take advantage of a solid, creative welcome bonus.
bet365 Sportsbook
After discussing the most-used sportsbook in the U.S., how about the most-used sportsbook in the world, according to USA Today. While bet365 Sportsbook might not be heavily used in the American market, it’s still an excellent product.
- Internationally-renowned sportsbook
- Versatile welcome offers
- Boosted odds for existing users
bet365 generally offers great and flexible welcome bonuses. Often, you’ll be able to pick between multiple sign-up offers, including bet-and-gets and first-bet insurance.
bet365 doesn’t stop after registration. You’ll get a host of existing user promos too, such as changing the number of places on pre-event markets, bet boosts and other event-specific coupons.
DraftKings Sportsbook
If you’re a fan of golf and are looking to get into betting, DraftKings Sportsbook is a great place to do it. This is one of the best golf betting sites for beginners given DraftKings’s easy-to-use mobile app that has virtually no learning curve.
- Unique “Golf Special” futures
- Extensive live betting options
- Existing user promotions
DraftKings Sportsbook routinely offers some of the most valuable welcome bonuses in the industry and tops it off with excellent existing user promos specifically related to golf.
As mentioned, the area DraftKings Sportsbook particularly sticks out in is its betting market variety. For many PGA events, you can find several markets that aren’t available on even some of the more popular sportsbooks such as tournament props, hole props, nationality props and more. Bettors can also find an excellent variety of futures markets for any of the majors including tournament winners, possible grand slam winners, double and triple chances and more.
In general, the biggest reason DraftKings is one of the top options for golf betting is variety. More betting markets and overall options for golf betting were found on DraftKings than any other sportsbook.
BetMGM Sportsbook
BetMGM Sportsbook takes golf betting seriously, which is evident in the amount of PGA Tour prop betting opportunities. Live betting on golf events is also top-notch at BetMGM.
- Array of PGA Tour props
- Valuable welcome offer
- Elite golf live betting
As a user of BetMGM interested in betting on golf, you will encounter many bet types that aren’t found in all sportsbooks. Some examples of this include: Winning margin, USA vs. rest of the field and wire to wire winner, among others.
What’s more, is that BetMGM delivers one of the most impressive live betting experiences for golf betting. You can follow along via the app and see odds updated in real time.
Our favorite picks for golf betting

A guide to betting on golf
As an individual sport, betting on golf differs in many ways from betting on the more popular leagues like the NFL, NBA or MLB. The next few sections will cover the bet types you need to know about and what to look for in a golf betting site.
What makes a good golf betting site?
Our team conducts a straightforward evaluation process of all potential golf betting sites to be included in our rankings. There are five key components of every golf betting site that we’re analyzing, and we believe these are the factors you need to consider before choosing where you want to place your bets.
1. Bonuses & promotions
As a new or existing customer, you should be able to find valuable offers on a golf sports betting site. The welcome bonus is only the first offer you get, it should be far from the last. You should be looking for golf sports betting sites that offer promotions for your everyday golf wagers.
2. Odds competitiveness & betting markets
It is essential for a sportsbook to offer competitive odds that provide as much value to bettors as possible. This can be found in the futures market and for live betting purposes while major events are in progress. To rank well, golf betting sites should also offer a solid selection of betting markets.
3. Live betting
Any golf betting site must provide a live betting menu as one of its key components. Despite the importance of pre-game odds and lines, we believe that live betting is the next level. If you are watching a game and would like to place a bet on it, there should be a wide variety of bet types available on the site.
4. Banking options
It can be challenging to process deposits and withdrawals, so the golf betting sites that offer a wide selection of banking methods and have quick transaction times are rated well by us.
5. Mobile app quality
As we highly recommend betting on golf from a mobile device, it is only natural that we place great importance on the quality of the mobile app. There should be no learning curve associated with golf sports betting mobile apps. They should have a modern interface and be easy to use.
Understanding golf betting markets
Betting on golf can be tricky as it is unlike most major sports betting markets. While most sports have individual games you can wager on, golf has a series of tournaments throughout the season. As a result, there are unique markets that only apply to professional golf.
Outright winner
The outright winner betting market in golf is the most simple. A bettor picks the golfer who they predict will end up with the lowest score after four rounds to win the event. Often, we see the favorite with odds no shorter than +400, which is a great value in nearly every other sports betting market. In golf though, winners can be as long as 200-1, so investing in several longshot golfers is a viable strategy.
Finishing position
Finishing position markets allow a golf bettor to place a wager on a golfer’s ability to record a top-20, top-10, or top-five finish at an event. Sometimes, this market extends to the top 30 and top 40, with odds continuously refreshing after each round is complete. Most sportsbooks allow a golf bettor to parlay finishing position odds, which can come with a large payout if it hits, though parlays in general are more difficult to win.
Two-ball/three-ball matchup
Two-ball matchups and three-ball matchups are offered by sportsbooks based on a group paired together for a specific round at a golf event. Odds are generally longer on three-ball matchups since there are two opponents to compete against in a round, compared to only one opponent in two-ball matchups. The lowest score in a round wins the two-ball or three-ball matchup, with ties serving as a push and returning the stake wagered.
Round score
Round score wagers are a popular prop bet that sportsbooks offer featuring a golfer’s over/under score for a specific round at a golf event. For example, Scottie Scheffler over/under 69.5 at a par 72 course, means a bettor investing on the side of under 69.5 would need Scheffler to go 3 under in that round to win their wager.
Cuts
Make/miss the cut is another self-explanatory betting market for golf. It allows a bettor to wager on whether a certain golfer will make or miss the cut line at an event. Cuts are enforced in nearly every event after the first two rounds, with a few exceptions typically reserved for signature events with a smaller field of qualifiers competing. Odds to miss the cut for star golfers can be plus money, while odds to make the cut for lower-ranked and lesser-known golfers in a field tend to also be available to wager at plus odds.
Heads-up matchups
Various matchup markets are either 18-hole or 72-hole, depending on the event and the sportsbook operator. Players in these matchup markets aren’t necessarily paired together, but sportsbooks are putting them head-to-head for either one round or all four rounds at a golf tournament, with the winning wager awarded to the golfer with the lower score.
Hole scores/hole winners
Hole scores and hole winners are two examples of micro-betting markets in golf. Instead of waiting for a round or a full tournament to conclude, golf bettors can opt to wager on a player’s hole score or which player in a matchup will win a specific hole at an event.
Parlays
Parlaying golf bets can come with large payouts, but many sportsbooks limit market availability.
Outright winners are prohibited from being parlayed. There can only be one winner due to the mandatory sudden-death playoff format following a 72-hole tie between at least two golfers on the PGA Tour.
Parlaying round scores is prohibited at most online sportsbook operators as well. However, matchups, finishing position and make/miss the cut tend to be eligible golf betting markets to parlay.
Here’s an example of a parlay to place ahead of an upcoming PGA Tour event:
- Will Zalatoris top 20 finishing position (-190)
- Justin Thomas to make the cut (-440)
- Scottie Scheffler top five finishing position (-125)
This is a +237 odds parlay that would pay out $237 of profit on a $100 bet. It’s a three-leg parlay that features two finishing position wagers, a top 20 and a top 5 for two different golfers, with a make-the-cut prop at shorter -440 odds placed on a third golfer.
Dead heat grading and payouts
One outcome that can affect golf bets is when multiple golfers either tie in a round or finish in the same position at the end of an event. This is known as a dead heat.
Dead heat grading and payouts vary depending on the online sportsbook that a golf bettor is using. For example, at FanDuel Sportsbook, if you bet $100 on Tiger Woods to record a top 10 in the finishing positions betting market at +200 odds, but he ties with another golfer, half the stake is lost, getting cut to $50. However, due to betting on Tiger’s finishing position correctly, the $50 stake gets paid out at +200 odds, resulting in a $100 win and a total payout of $150.
Dead heat grading is applied to golf betting markets that include finishing position, round leader and matchups, including two-ball and three-ball. The more players that wind up tied in a matchup or a finishing position on the leaderboard results in a bigger reduction of the initial stake wagered.
Best strategies for betting on golf
There are a multitude of betting strategies you can use to become a profitable golf bettor. Let’s focus on the most common strategies when it comes to placing wagers on golf.
Unit management
Unit management needs to be re-emphasized. Staking three units on a golfer who is 30-1 to win outright, whether it’s before opening tee times in Round 1, or a live bet placed in Round 4, is ill-advised.
Yes, if it works out, winning 90 units would be fantastic. However, the way to mitigate the downside is by staking a unit or half a unit on golfers inside of 20-1 odds. Placing several smaller 0.25 unit and 0.10 unit bets on golfers +2000 or longer will help offset bigger losses settled on golfers valued as the favorites in the outright winner market.
Limit parlays
Parlays can be lucrative, although difficult to predict in certain markets, like three-ball and two-ball matchups. Most golfers, even if they are favored in a pairing, are available to wager at plus odds. It’s very hard to predict a player’s consistency ahead of each round at an event.
Often, the golfer who scored low in Round 1 will not need to be as aggressive to make the cut in Round 2, and vice versa. This isn’t necessarily to say to always avoid parlays, but exercise caution when putting one together in golf betting markets.
Utilize analytics
Strokes gained metrics and course history are both important information, but try to avoid getting consumed by either data point. If a golfer has been missing cuts or falling outside of the top 25, placing a futures bet on them to record a top-five finish due to a win from five years ago at the same course can backfire quickly. It does happen now and again, but spending some time to analyze how a player performs off-the-tee, tee-to-green and around-the-green can pay dividends before placing a golf bet.
On the other hand, strokes gained metrics are gathered from a golfer’s performance at different courses. Competing at a course with numerous water hazards, narrow fairways and bentgrass greens instead of Bermudagrass greens and wider fairways is a big difference. It’s why a lot of these strokes gained numbers can be thrown out of the window, depending on the layout of a specific course.
Trust your process
Finally, follow your gut. It sounds cliché, but if you believe in a golfer’s talent and fit at a course, just because consensus isn’t in agreement, doesn’t mean you should doubt yourself. Don’t get too high or too low after one shot, since there are quite a few emotional swings that come with wagering on any golf betting market.
