June 30, 2002 CLEVELAND (Ticker) -- Margo Dydek and Natalie Williams simply were too much for the undersized Cleveland Rockers to handle. The 7-2 Dydek had 19 points and 13 rebounds and the 6-2 Williams added 17 and six as the Utah Starzz ended the Rockers' three-game winning streak with a 79-62 victory. Dydek connected on 8-of-14 shots, Williams was 7-of-10 and Marie Ferdinand had 17 points on 7-of-8 shooting for the Starzz, who connected at 59 percent (30-of-51) from the field. They have won five of their last six games. Ann Wauters scored a career-high 20 points, Penny Taylor had 13 and Chasity Melvin 10 before fouling out for Cleveland, which was held to 38 percent (21-of-56) and fell to 1-5 in the last six meetings with Utah after taking the first seven. Utah raced to a 12-0 lead before Cleveland forged a 25-25 tie on a turnaround jumper by Melvin with 4:47 left in the first half. But Williams made a layup and a technical free throw 40 seconds later to put the Starzz ahead for good. Cleveland trailed by nine points at halftime but got within 44-39 on Taylor's layup and free throw with 17:23 left. Utah quickly took command and led by double digits for nearly the final 14 minutes.
