New GM stands behind Price, Halak: Sportsnet.ca reports Canadiens GM Pierre Gauthier, who replaced Bob Gainey on Monday, addressed the future of Montreal goalies Carey Price and Jaroslav Halak with the March 3 trade deadline looming. There is speculation that one of the goalies will be dealt, but Gauither hints that is not the case. "We have two very strong, young goaltenders, and they've been a very big part of our team this year," Gauthier said. "They give us a chance to win every night, that's a very important thing in a very close league. We believe that we can go forward with these two young men and that's our best chance to get into the playoffs this year. That's a strong position, and we'd like to keep it strong.""

Fantasy Analysis
You really have to read between the lines here. If Montreal comes across an offer they can't refuse, then Halak or Price might be moved. Gauthier could also be trying to drive the price up for either netminder. Price's name has been mentioned more in rumors lately, as Edmonton and Tampa Bay as possible destinations. Price, 22, has played in only one of the Canadiens' last nine games as Montreal has leaned on Halak. Montreal continues to search for a franchise goalie in the mold of the great Patrick Roy and thought they had it in Price. It's just gone south for the young goalie since last season after he banged up his ankle. A trade might not be such a bad thing for Price, who isn't a fan favorite in Montreal. Halak has emerged as a No. 2 Fantasy goalie and Price should probably be kept reserved until further notice.
