Fantasy Analysis

Backstrom isn't usually a chirpy player, so it was unusual to see him get a game misconduct, which was the first of his career. The two assists extended Backstrom's point streak to eight games. He has four goals and 13 assists in that span. Backstrom is centering one of the most explosive lines in the NHL, as he flanked by Alex Ovechkin and Mike Knuble. Continue to keep Backstrom active in all Fantasy formats heading into Week 19 (Feb. 8-14). The best part is that he is no longer a one-trick pony and has become a decent goal scorer.

C Nicklas Backstrom and RW Mike Knuble both got 10-minute misconduct penalties as the Caps hurt themselves with numerous penalties in the first two periods. But they got just one penalty in the third period and overtime, and Backstrom had two assists and Knuble scored the game-winner. 27//2010
