NT Vince Wilfork concluded his six-year rookie contract last fall with another Pro Bowl campaign. Now, after failing to work out a long-term extension in New England last summer and fall, the veteran defensive lineman seems to be digging his heals in the sand. Two things are sure at this point heading toward free agency in an uncapped year - Wilfork wants a long term deal, regardless of where it is, and doesn't wanted anything to do with the franchise tag. "It's basically a slap in my face and an insult to me to tell me I'm an OK player," Wilfork told WEEI radio in Boston of the franchise tag. "It is what it is. If it happens, there's nothing I can do." Unlike last summer, when Wilfork many times voiced a desire to stay with the team that drafted him with the 21st pick in the 2004 draft, the nose tackle is willing to move on to make the money he deserves he's worth.
