Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Washington RedskinsFan picks
27Josh Johnson will be making his first NFL start for Tampa Bay in a hostile environment against a testy team that lost to the Lions last week. That's tough going. The Redskins have to turn it around or their season is done. They're a step up from the Bucs in talent. Look for the defense to get some turnovers that lead to points.
Result: Washington Redskins 16, Tampa Bay Buccaneers 13

Baltimore Ravens at New England PatriotsFan picks
31We thought we'd be talking about that vaunted New England offense against that great Ravens defense, but the Patriots haven't lived up to the hype. Two years ago, the Ravens should have defeated the Patriots, only to lose on a questionable call. Those were different teams. I think this one will be a shootout for both teams. Tom Brady will hit some big throws, but so will Joe Flacco to keep it close.
Result: New England Patriots 27, Baltimore Ravens 21

NY Giants at Kansas City ChiefsFan picks
24The Giants are playing three consecutive road games, which is usually tough for a team. But this is the Chiefs. Normally this would be an easy pick. It isn't here. The Giants will win, but how focused will they be? Somehow, the Chiefs stay in it. Not win it, but stay in it.

Tennessee Titans at Jacksonville JaguarsFan picks
28The Titans are staring 0-4 in the face if they don't win this one. That would essentially end their season. I don't think that happens. The Jaguars played well at Houston last week, and would love to basically end the Titans' playoff hopes, but it doesn't happen. The Titans find a way to win one.

Seattle Seahawks at Indianapolis ColtsFan picks
34The Colts are home after two consecutive road victories. Seattle has lost two straight, so they need this game. But the Colts are too good offensively. We saw that last week against Arizona. Look for Peyton Manning to continue his hot start.
Result: Indianapolis Colts 34, Seattle Seahawks 17

Oakland Raiders at Houston TexansFan picks
25The Raiders have been a disaster on offense. The Texans have been one on defense. Something has to give. I think the Raiders offense will come alive a little. They won't do enough to win the game, but they will keep it close. Houston is way too big a favorite here.
Result: Houston Texans 29, Oakland Raiders 6

Cincinnati Bengals at Cleveland BrownsFan picks
24The key here is a potential letdown for the Bengals. They beat Pittsburgh last week, so it's natural. But this Bengals team is different. I think the offense will get it going like it did late in the Steelers game. The Browns can't seem to score, and I don't think they will have much success here.
Result: Cincinnati Bengals 23, Cleveland Browns 20

Detroit Lions at Chicago BearsFan picks
27Can the Lions carry the momentum of their first victory over to this game? The Bears have won two consecutive games, and Jay Cutler is playing a lot better. Matt Stafford struggled in his only road game, and I think he'll struggle some here. Chicago wins it easily, thanks to some big plays by the defense.
Result: Chicago Bears 48, Detroit Lions 24

NY Jets at New Orleans SaintsFan picks
28This is the game of the week. You have the great defense of the Jets matching up against the great offense of the Saints. The Jets blitz a lot. Drew Brees eats up blitzes. He will again in this one. The big key is how the Saints defense plays against Mark Sanchez. I think they rattle him in his second road start. Saints big.
Result: New Orleans Saints 24, NY Jets 10

Buffalo Bills at Miami DolphinsFan picks
23Chad Henne makes his first start for the Dolphins. It will be interesting to see how he responds. I say he does fine. The ball will go down the field more than it did with Chad Pennington. The way Trent Edwards is playing, Buffalo isn't exactly lighting things up. Henne wins his first start with a long touchdown pass -- or two.
Result: Miami Dolphins 38, Buffalo Bills 10

St. Louis Rams at San Francisco 49ersFan picks
21The Rams are struggling in a big way and might be without Marc Bulger. The 49ers are coming off a tough loss. That means they will be focused. They will also be without Frank Gore, but rookie runner Glenn Coffee is a good player. He'll have success. Look for the 49ers to win going away as they get re-focused after that tough loss last week.
Result: San Francisco 49ers 35, St. Louis Rams 0

Dallas Cowboys at Denver BroncosFan picks
27Are the Broncos for real? We'll know a lot more after this one. Their defense has played great. And they get a banged-up Dallas offense that could be without its top two backs. Even so, I look for the Cowboys to come into Denver and find a way, even off a short week after playing Monday. I just don't think Denver is as good as their record.

San Diego Chargers at Pittsburgh SteelersFan picks
26The Steelers have to get it going. At 1-2, they can't afford to lose another. The problem has been the defense in key situations. They haven't had much pressure. That changes in this game against Philip Rivers. The outside rushers, James Harrison and LaMar Woodley, play big here. The Steelers get it going.
Result: Pittsburgh Steelers 38, San Diego Chargers 28

Green Bay Packers at Minnesota VikingsFan picks
23The Packers get to face Brett Favre. The hype will be sickening. Can Favre beat his old teammates? Will he make them pay? He won't be the key here. The key will be how well the Green Bay offensive line holds up against the Minnesota defensive line. I say they play well. And Aaron Rodgers will as well. Packers take it in an upset.

At this point in the season who knows who's going to win.  Anything can happen in the playoffs.  The New York Jets just beat the Chargers at home for christsakes.  I really can't remember who the Vikings played, oh wait, the much talked about Dallas Cowboys.  What a thing hype does.  Chargers and Cowboys let their fans down in games where they should have won.

Since the 70's, the Minnesota Vikings have neihter reached NOR won the Super Bowl in four tries.  Here are their previous pratfalls.  In 1988, the Minnesota Vikings had Anthony Carter from Michigan on their team as Wide Receiver, but they lost to the Washington Redskins 17-10.  In 1999, the Vikings were heavily favored over the Atlanta Falcons, but Randall Cunningha ...(more)

I feel like he should wait a few weeks to put that up. Week 1, great, 75%. That takes some thought. But 43 and 56 the next two weeks, respectively? I don't get it. It's not just CBS, but calling these guys Experts is insane. Experts should not only do their job, but get things right more than half the time. A LOT more than half the time. Break 75% the next 3 weeks and I'll call you an expert. For ...(more)

N ever U nderderestimate M innesota's B rett.  Brett Favre has proved himself time and time again; he said that this is the best team he has played on, ever, so I'm going to have to give Minnesota the nod in this one (and the next one).  Favre is a saavy veteran, who knows how to get it done, and with a running back like A.P. I can't for the life of me consider them underdogs, to any ...(more)

.....to predict the outcome of the Conference Championship games, there would be a pile of fans who would call him an idiot.

Pete Prisco isn't even close to being Einstein, and I'm sure he'll back me up on that disclaimer.  But his job is to write up a piece about who he thinks is going to win the games, and that's that.  Your mission is to either agree or disagree with him, w

SI circulated two covers this week: One with Mark Sanchez on the cover, for the upper NE; one with Brett Favre on the cover for the rest of us.

So you know what this means: the Saints and Colts will meet in the Super Bowl.

Now, the problem is that SI also picked Indy and NO to meet in the Super Bowl.  (As a subscriber for 4 years, I am also aware

I for once agree with Prisco and that is very rare.  I feel the best contest is the Saints and the Vikings,  Brett Farve will find a lot more defense in his face today as Will Smith, Jonathan Vilma, Roman Harper and Scott Shanie continue to pile up tackles. Cedric Griffin will get the job of containing Colston.  In a noise filled staduim with rowdy shouting and drinki ...(more)

People always ask why cbs keeps Prisco when he gives us no valuable insights on anything.

It's kind of a corporate good ole boys network.  Like Jay Leno uses.  He has his staff of writers the last 15 years that are all dried up and have about a 20% "funny" ratio when it comes to writing skits.  Yet, he keeps them on salary forever.... He needs to blow them all o

What an erroneous blowhard Prisco is!

The only thing good about him is to make money off him. Whoever he picks, go for the opposites.

I'm putting my money on Jet and Vikings now... LOL

At least one numbe rone seed will not make the SB.  If THe Colts win, then the VIkings will win.  If THe JEts win, the Saints will win.  THe reason why I am saying this is because 2 number one seeds have not made the SB together since 1993.
