Sunday was my kind of day -- all the way around.

It had big plays, more points than last week, plenty of sacks, including great individual sack days, and it had large passing days from quarterbacks.

Chris Johnson's huge plays went for naught in the Titans' 34-31 loss to Houston. (AP)
Chris Johnson's huge plays went for naught in the Titans' 34-31 loss to Houston. (AP)

Do we really get 15 more of these? Let's hope so.

Whenever you looked up, a runner or a receiver was ripping off a play bigger than the next.

We saw Tennessee's Chris Johnson with three touchdown plays of more than 50 yards, including a 91-yard run.

We had Frank Gore with two touchdown runs of 79 yards or more.

We saw Cincinnati's Antwan Odom with five sacks and Denver's Elvis Dumervil with four.

We had San Diego quarterback Philip Rivers throw for 436 yards and lose.

We saw Arizona quarterback Kurt Warner setting a record for single-game completion percentage, hitting 24 of 26 passes for a 92.3 percentage against the Jacksonville Jaguars. He hit his first 15.

Then there was Eli Manning and his 330 yards and a late-game drive to the winning points with no time left to give the New York Giants a victory in the late game over Dallas.

Fun stuff.

But the most impressive two things of the entire day are the same two things that impressed last week; the New Orleans Saints and the New York Jets.

The Saints blew out the Philadelphia Eagles 48-22 on the road as Drew Brees threw three more touchdown passes to give him nine on the season. The Saints have scored 93 points in two games and are the first team to get at least 45 points in their first two games since the 1968 Oakland Raiders.

At this clip, Brees is on a pace to throw 72 touchdown passes. Anybody still want to criticize the Saints for throwing it too much?

The flip side is the Jets, who beat the New England Patriots 16-9 and dominated the explosive Patriots offense. They hit Tom Brady all afternoon to get to 2-0. The Jets have not allowed a touchdown on defense in their first two games, showing they have taken well to first-year coach Rex Ryan's standards.

Both the Saints and the Jets earn A's here in our CBSSports.com Week 2 Grades. If they keep it up, we just might see them together in January down in Miami.

Washington Redskins 9, St. Louis Rams 7Prev. GradeGPA
C
Redskins: It wasn't pretty, but they'll take it. They moved it from 20 to 20, but couldn't score. The defense played well, forcing a key turnover inside the 5 late. Jason Campbell was efficient, but he didn't make it happen in the red zone.
C-
1.85
C-
Rams: The defense gave up yards, but made the plays when it needed to stop Washington drives. The offense didn't do much. Steven Jackson was solid with 104 yards, but Donnie Avery's fumble was a killer.
D
1.35
Houston Texans 34, Tennessee Titans 31Prev. GradeGPA
B+
Texans: Matt Schaub bounced back from a tough go last week in a big way, throwing for 357 yards and four touchdowns. Andre Johnson had two of those touchdown catches and racked up 149 yards on 10 catches. The defense gave up way too many big plays, especially to Chris Johnson. They have to clean that up.
F
1.65
B-
Titans: What happened to that defense? Maybe they do miss Jim Schwartz. There is no way that should happen to that group. Johnson had a huge day, rushing for 197 yards and scoring the three big-play touchdowns.
B-
2.70
New Orleans Saints 48, Philadelphia Eagles 22Prev. GradeGPA
A
Saints: Can anybody stop Brees? The Eagles defense was carved up. The Saints have to worry some about their defense. They made some key stops, but they gave up a lot of yards. They did have three picks.
B+
3.65
C+
Eagles: Kevin Kolb made some plays, but the three interceptions hurt. He did throw for 391 yards. The Eagles defense came back down to earth a little. They are better than that. But it's tough against the Saints.
A+
3.15
NY Jets 16, New England Patriots 9Prev. GradeGPA
A
Jets: This one goes to the defense. The aggressive, attacking defense hit Tom Brady all day long and never let the Pats get into a groove. Mark Sanchez took care of the ball and the Jets did just enough on offense.
A
4.00
B-
Patriots: The New England defense had a decent enough day to win. Who could have imagined the Pats offense would cost them a game? Brady could never get it going. Randy Moss was a nonfactor. The line was overmatched.
B-
2.70
Oakland Raiders 13, Kansas City Chiefs 10Prev. GradeGPA
C
Raiders: This is a game they probably should not have won, considering how badly they were dominated. But they found a way, thanks to JaMarcus Russell leading them on a game-winning drive. Russell didn't play well other than that. The defense bent, but stiffened at key times.
F
1.00
C-
Chiefs: They moved the ball, but couldn't score. They also shut down Oakland's offense for most of the game, but that last drive was a killer. Matt Cassel had two picks in his first start for the Chiefs. Losing this one should not have happened.
C-
1.70
Arizona Cardinals 31, Jacksonville Jaguars 17Prev. GradeGPA
A
Cardinals: Kurt Warner set a completion-percentage record at 92.3. He missed two passes and didn't get touched. He threw two touchdown passes. The big play was the return of a blocked field goal for a touchdown by Antrel Rolle. The defense played well until the game was out of hand.
C-
2.85
C-
Jaguars: The defense was terrible. They don't have any semblance of a pass rush, and it showed. Their offense isn't designed to keep up, although David Garrard did have a decent day after the Jaguars fell behind.
C
1.85
Cincinnati Bengals 31, Green Bay Packers 24Prev. GradeGPA
B+
Bengals: Carson Palmer threw three touchdown passes, but this day belonged to Odom and running back Cedric Benson. Odom had five sacks as the Bengals did a nice job up front. Benson ran for 144 yards. The Packers offense never really got going. Palmer's pick for a score by Charles Woodson hurt.
C
2.65
C-
Packers: Their offensive line was overmatched, and it showed. Aaron Rodgers took a beating. Their defense made some big plays, but Benson ran through them all afternoon, especially at the end when the Bengals needed it.
B-
2.20
Minnesota Vikings 27, Detroit Lions 13Prev. GradeGPA
B-
Vikings: The defense played well, especially in the second half. Chad Greenway had two picks of Matthew Stafford. They also forced a fumble at 10-10 that led to the go-ahead score. Adrian Peterson didn't put up the huge numbers, but he had a touchdown and a good day. Brett Favre was efficient.
B+
3.00
C
Lions: They fought for a half, but you can't turn it over and expect to win when you're undermanned. Matthew Stafford played like a rookie at times, and Kevin Smith's fumble was a killer. The defense played decent enough.
D
1.50
Atlanta Falcons 28, Carolina Panthers 20Prev. GradeGPA
B-
Falcons: The offense had a good game, but the defense struggled. Matt Ryan hit on 13 consecutive passes during one span and threw three touchdown passes. Michael Turner went for 105 yards.
B
2.85
C-
Panthers: The offense bounced back, especially Jake Delhomme. He had a good day. The running game went for 144 yards. The defense had problems again. They didn't get any pressure. Anybody seen Julius Peppers?
F
0.85
San Francisco 49ers 23, Seattle Seahawks 10Prev. GradeGPA
A
49ers: Frank Gore had a monster day to key the offense and quarterback Shaun Hill was efficient with the football. The defense had a second consecutive big game, doing a great job shutting down the Seattle running game.
B
3.50
D
Seahawks: Their offense didn't show up. And when Matt Hasselbeck went out with a rib injury in the second quarter, they were done. The defense needs to learn how to limit big plays. Gore made them look silly.
A
2.50
Buffalo Bills 33, Tampa Bay Buccaneers 20Prev. GradeGPA
B
Bills: Fred Jackson had a big day running it (163 yards) and Trent Edwards threw two touchdown passes. The defense gave up some passing yards, but shut down the Tampa Bay running game and scored on an interception return.
A
3.50
D
Buccaneers: For the second consecutive week, the defense was terrible. The Bills dominated that unit. Byron Leftwich threw for 296 yards and three scores. But he threw it 50 times. That's too many.
C+
1.65
Baltimore Ravens 31, San Diego Chargers 26Prev. GradeGPA
B
Ravens: The defense gave up a lot of passing yards, but they made huge stops in the red zone. That was the difference. The fourth-down stop by Ray Lewis at the end was a great play. Joe Flacco had another good day at quarterback.
C+
2.65
C+
Chargers: The Chargers blew too many scoring chances. They wasted a heck of a day by Philip Rivers, who stood in the face of a fierce rush and threw for a career-high 436 yards. He did throw two big picks. The defense played OK, but gave up too many points.
C
2.15
Denver Broncos 27, Cleveland Browns 6Prev. GradeGPA
A
Broncos: The defense is playing well, shutting down the Cleveland offense. Elvis Dumervil was the star. Kyle Orton had a nice game with 263 yards and a touchdown. They also ran for more than 150. Don't look now, but they're 2-0.
C+
3.15
D-
Browns: It was horrible. Again. The offense didn't do anything. They couldn't run it and Brady Quinn struggled. The defense didn't play much better. It's not good right now.
C-
1.20
Chicago Bears 17, Pittsburgh Steelers 14Prev. GradeGPA
B+
Bears: Jay Cutler redeemed himself after his poor play in the opener. He completed all four of his passes on the game-winning drive. He threw two touchdown passes. The defense did a nice job on the Pittsburgh running game, which put the game into the hands of the passing game.
C
2.65
C+
Steelers: Jeff Reed missed two key field goals that cost the Steelers. The lack of a running game hurt again. The defense played well enough to win, but let down late. This game was theirs for the taking, but Reed cost them.
B
2.65
NY Giants 33, Dallas Cowboys 31Prev. GradeGPA
B
Giants: Eli Manning and that passing game were on fire. Did he look good in the drive to the winning points or what? It looks like Mario Manningham and Steve Smith will be fine at receiver. On defense, they were gashed in the run game, which has to be fixed.
B
3.00
B-
Cowboys: The running game was dominant from start to finish. They ran it right at the Giants to keep them in the game. But that defense, especially the pass defense, was horrible. That's the second week for that, so now it's a big concern. Where was DeMarcus Ware? Tony Romo wasn't great either.
B
2.85
Monday, Sep. 21, 2009
Indianapolis Colts 27, Miami Dolphins 23Prev. GradeGPA
C+
Colts: This one was all about Peyton Manning. Give him the ball late, down three, and watch him go. The Colts hit big plays in the passing game to win this game. The defense couldn't get Miami off the field. That's a concern.
B-
2.50
C
Dolphins: They ran it at will, controlled the clock, and still lost the game. Why? They don't have Manning. There aren't any big plays in the offense. The pass defense really let down on that last drive for the Colts.

As stated last week,NEVER mention Rivers in the same sentence as Peyton Manning unless you say Rivers sucks. Manning carved up the Jets defense for 377 yards and 3 TD and NO INT-the same defense that Rivers could NOT solve and threw the pic that gave the Jets the lead. Manning did not leave it to the kicker to win he game like that loser Rivers did. Rivers not capable of leading a team to anything ...(more)

What a waste of all that jack Manning is. I bet the Giants would like a redo and keep Rivers instead of getting Manning. I know, Manning has won a Superbowl, and Burress is not there but Manning is just not consistent enough. Rivers is looking far more consistant right now. No way Manning should be the highest paid player in the NFL!!!

The game was over when Norv decided to lay it down in the 2 nd quarter, running up the middle on 3 rd and 5 (when our avg run was like 2 yards) with 2:30 minutes left and then punting the ball was a stupid move, to me that series changed the whole game. Why not put the ball in the Rivers hands and maybe go into half time with a possible 10- 14 p ...(more)

Is Prisco the only one saying over and over and over again that the NFL is "all about passing." Look, the passing is game is great and fun to watch but I don't think it is the Superbowl formula. Sure the Saints, Vikings, and Colts have great quarterbacks and can put up points, but the Superbowl is about whose defense is better. The last two years proves my point with the Steelers and Gia ...(more)

I think it is quite apparent at this point that Brady is a great statue quarterback.  But unfortunately for Tom, in the NFL today it is necessary for the leader of the team to be able to have at least minimal mobility.  I saw some of his completions against the Ravens and he literally had the day.  However; whenever pressured, he made very poor decisions and threw the ball into cove ...(more)

Quote from Vikes Steelers game---

"Facts are facts. Favre gagged in the fourth quarter Sunday, and now the Vikings aren't undefeated anymore. He threw for 334 yards, but two fourth-quarter turnovers for scores were what lost this game.

Free pass? Not here.

On the first turnover, Favre held the ball too long and Steelers defensive end ...(more)

Seriously, did you want them to go for it on 4th and 11 from the Dallas 32?  Were you watching the game?  The Eagles O-line was not going to hold up on an obvious passing down like that.  At least with the field goal, the Eagles got to kick the ball, and if the D mans up and stops somebody then they get the ball back with 2 minutes left with a chance to run the 2 min offense.  ...(more)

I am not sure how to look at this playoff picture for the Ravens. They have shown life in many games this season like the dropped pass in NE, missed FG against Minn, or the close game against Pitt and Indy. I think if they wake up they could be a huge threat. What does everyone else think??

Typical response form certain type of sports reportere. Prisco incures this double standard of Sean Paton not being thick skinned about opinions fron the media to the fact that they're rusty down the stretch, yet obviously Payton's one little tongue in cheek comment obviously upset Prisco enough where he has to dedicate his entire lead in to it, instead instad of focusing on the Saints p ...(more)

Come on man, pick the Vikings to win...  Most of the teams you pick to win, lose!   I want the Saints to win it all so that Drew Brees won't have any trouble getting to the Hall of Fame.  You sportswriters seem to think that a team accomplishment is needed to get an individual into the HOF.

Pete - you successfully picked 1 game out of 4 - your grade is 25% and we're going to have to hold you back for another year... your mom will need to sign the report card and send it back.

Once again Rivers proved he cannot carry a team and cannot win when the chips are on the table. He cannot carry Peyton's jock. The trade by the Giants for Eli has proved to be correct. Idiot Prisco said that San Diego would get the better of Rivers-Eli Manning trade. WRONG! How many rings does Rivers have? NONE! All Charger fans want Brees back. Prissy...what's up with your grading of the Saints and the Vikings?  You give the Saints an A+, but only an A to the Vikings.  Why?

Weren't you writing the past 2 weeks about how great the Cowboys are and they are the best team in the NFC?  And their defense had finally got to the point of being the best and being able to shut down any offense.  Where was that defens
