04/28/2009 - A closer look at the Broncos' picks: Round 7/225 -- Blake Schlueter, C, 6-3, 284, Texas Christian...Schlueter isn't huge but could fill some depth on the Broncos' interior line. Denver drafted Kory Lichtensteiger last year as a possible center of the future, but Schlueter will be given the chance to make an impression on the new staff and secure a spot on the team. Schlueter can also play guard.

04/25/2009 - Schlueter's pro day workout landed him visits with the Buffalo Bills, Colts, Seattle Seahawks, Atlanta Falcons, Cowboys, Jacksonville Jagauars and Oakland Raiders. "When you're 290 pounds and run a 4.7 40, you're going to turn some heads," Sommer said. "They had to be impressed with his work ethic, drive and determination. It's hard to say what they're looking for. He's done everything he possibly can do to give himself a chance." Schlueter's wife, Lorianne, is 8 1/2-months pregnant so they decided not to return to Ganado for the draft and instead will spend the weekend with her family in Tyler. "I'll probably watch the first day," Schlueter said. "I'm really not expecting anything to happen in the first two rounds. On the second day, I'll either just hang out or go out to the lake and fish. That will keep my mind off of it." Schlueter's mind won't be off football for long. If he isn't drafted, he'll surely have the opportunity to join a team as a free agent. "I'm kind of going with the mindset of not getting drafted," Schlueter said. "You never know what can happen. People who are surefire things are not picked up. I want to get a free agent deal at worst. I just want to get a shot. I think there's a pretty good chance that I may have slid into the later rounds." - Mike Forman, Victoria Advocate
