Jan. 21, 2009 BLACKSBURG, Va. -- Lyndra Littles scored 28 points and hit four free throws in the final 30 seconds to help No. 16 Virginia rally late and beat Virginia Tech 75-69 on Wednesday night. Littles, who connected on all eight of her free throws, scored 15 points in the second half and added seven rebounds in the game for the Cavaliers (15-3, 2-1 ACC). Lindsay Biggs led the Hokies (8-10, 0-5 ACC) with 17 points and connected on five 3-pointers. Virginia Tech, which shot 45.5 percent from the field (25 of 55), took a 63-56 lead with 6:42 left before Virginia's late surge. Monica Wright chipped in with 23 points, seven rebounds and three steals for the Cavaliers, who led by as many as 12 points in the first half. Littles and Wright combined to score Virginia's final 12 points of the half. Virginia, which shot 46.9 percent (30 of 64) outrebounded Virginia Tech 39-29. |
