Griffin has successful knee surgery: -Blake Griffin's broken left kneecap has been repaired by surgery that will keep the Los Angeles Clippers' No. 1 overall draft pick out for the rest of the season. Griffin underwent a two-part procedure Wednesday morning at the Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Center in Los Angeles. Dr. Neal ElAttrache repaired Griffin's patellar tendon and performed a "left patellar fragment excision," according to the Clippers. Griffin is expected to be back in action in four to six months, allowing him to return for summer workouts.

Fantasy Analysis
Griffin was the consensus college player of the year with 22.7 points and an NCAA-best 14.4 rebounds per game last season for the Sooners, and the Clippers eagerly chose him in last June's draft. Griffin averaged 13.7 points and 8.1 rebounds during the preseason, and coach Mike Dunleavy and his new teammates all expected him to be a major part of their comeback season. It's safe to release him in all seasonal leagues, but he still has tremendous upside in keeper formats. Hopefully he can take the extra time in his recovery to return at 100 percent for the start of the 2010-11 season, but his rookie year is now lost. We'll keep you posted on his rehab and recovery process, and look for him to return as a No. 2 Fantasy forward when healthy.
