DUNEDIN, Fla. -- Toronto Blue Jays catcher Greg Myers might retire after this season.
"I would say probably, I haven't decided for sure," Myers said Friday. "But I am leaning that way."
Myers, who turns 38 on April 14, is coming off the best season of his 16-year major league career. He hit .307 last year with 15 homers and 52 RBI.
"The last couple of years, I have taken it one year at a time, just to see how my body reacts and how I feel toward the end of the season," Myers said. "Coming into last season, I said to myself it was probably going to be it. But having some success and fun the way the team played and the promise it had, I figured I would come back for another year and try it again."
Myers also has played for California, Minnesota, San Diego, Atlanta, Baltimore and Oakland. He already has one project in place for possible retirement -- he purchased a gas station in Laguna Hills, Calif.
