TORONTO -- The Blue Jays added three players from Triple-A Las Vegas, recalling right-hander Jeremy Accardo and left-hander David Purcey, and purchasing the contract of catcher-first baseman Kyle Phillips.
A six-year veteran, Accardo pitched in 19 games for Toronto this season. He had one save and a 2.50 ERA.
Purcey was 0-2 with a 7.01 ERA in five April starts before being demoted to Las Vegas, where he went 9-6 with a 4.46 ERA in 24 starts.
Purcey and left-hander Brian Tallet are moving into Toronto's rotation for the remainder of the season, taking the places of rookie left-handers Brett Cecil and Marc Rzepczynski. Cecil will make his final start Thursday against Minnesota and Rzepczynski has already been shut down after reaching his innings limit.
Purcey's next start is expected to come Tuesday at New York.
It's the first time in the major leagues for Phillips, who was drafted by Minnesota in 2002. Phillips, the younger brother of former major leaguer Jason Phillips, batted .300 with eight home runs and 29 RBI in 76 games.
Also Tuesday, Toronto moved right-hander Shaun Marcum (elbow) from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day DL.
