Six days into January, and I bet your New Year's resolutions are already tumbling like Tim Wakefield's knuckler. And bouncing right past the catcher.
Me? I haven't broken any. Because outside of my two standard resolutions heading into the new year -- more music, and more laughter -- I haven't made 'em.

So here we go, 2009-style ...
Be sweet to the New York Yankees. All summer. Don't make fun of how much money they've spent. (Theory No. 1 on resolutions: Always start with one you know you've got no chance of keeping. That way, if you keep any of the others further down the list, you'll feel like you've really accomplished something).
Remind desk at CBSSports.com to Photoshop a White Sox cap into Inauguration pictures of Barack Obama on Jan. 20 if the President-elect forgets to wear one. (He'd surely appreciate us touching up the photos just a wee bit, wouldn't he?).
See Gran Torino. Few things in life are better than the release of a new Clint Eastwood movie.
Sell old copy of Mitchell Report at neighborhood garage sale. Remind self that readers are sick and tired of steroids.
Don't pick Yankees to win World Series based on payroll alone. Remember that Detroit was the chic pick last year after adding marquee players and salary ... before disappearing into manager Jim Leyland's cigarette smoke.
Note that the Yankees will be paying their infield of Alex Rodriguez ($32 million), Derek Jeter ($20 million), Robinson Cano ($6 million) and Mark Teixeira ($20 million) a grand total of $78 million in '09 -- or, more than the entire payrolls of Colorado, San Diego, Kansas City, Minnesota, Washington, Oakland, Tampa Bay, Pittsburgh and Florida in 2008. And more than the Pirates' and Marlins' combined payrolls. (Doggone, guess that first resolution is already out the window. Didn't take long, did it?).
Refrain from attaching board game references to the Milton Bradley-Cubs partnership. Like Jeopardy or Sorry! Sorry. Guess that resolution is toast, too.
More music.
More laughter.
