PHOENIX -- Pitcher Travis Blackley agreed Friday to a one-year contract with the Arizona Diamondbacks.
The 26-year-old left-hander would be paid $405,000 if he is in the major leagues -- $5,000 over the minimum -- and $105,000 if he is in the minors.
The native of Melbourne, Australia, was 5-10 with a 5.41 ERA in 28 games last season for the Philadelphia Phillies' Triple-A Lehigh Valley farm team. He signed as a free agent with the Seattle Mariners in 2000.
Blackley, the 2003 Texas League pitcher of the year, is 1-3 with a 9.35 ERA over 34 2/3 innings in eight career major league starts, six for Seattle in 2004 and two for San Francisco in 2007
