Lowe rocked in final 2009 start: Atlanta SP Derek Lowe turned in a dud on Friday in a 6-3 loss to the Nationals. In his final start of the season, Lowe lasted only 4 2/3 innings, allowing five earned runs on eight hits. He struck out four and walked five as his ERA jumped up to 4.67 on the season with the performance.

Fantasy Analysis

Although Lowe finished the year with 15 wins, he had a disappointing first year with the Braves, posting a 4.67 ERA and finished the season off poorly. At 36, Lowe could be on the decline and is no longer the type of pitcher than can be counted on to turn in a quality start most times he takes the hill. Lowe said he's looking forward to trying to correct mechanical flaws in the offseason. "I don't know where I went wrong," Lowe said. "I just got into so many bad habits as far as mechanics. I tried to correct it. It was never there. Looking ahead to the 2010 season, Lowe should be viewed as a No. 4 or No. 5 Fantasy SP on Draft Day.
